Guest guest Posted December 1, 2004 Report Share Posted December 1, 2004 Another part of this is that at least in our state, the state gets half of the punitive award. Punitive awards are also taxed. They are taxed under the alternative minimum tax, which does not allow you to deduct your attorney's fees. So you also have to pay taxes on the attorney's fees.
