Thank you for the responses on excessive iron. Can someone tell me

what IP6 is, the typical dosage and any potential side effects? Do

you use the same protocol as with DSMA/ALA? I am waiting for

approval for the autism-iron group.

Thanks,

Tina

This is from the board:

1)Chelate excess Iron (using IP6)

2)Reduce peptides entering brain (reduce food containing long chain

proteins, such as wheat, milk, eggs, etc.)

3)Suppress hyperactive immune system (using B6)

Here is a website:

http://www.geocities.com/upadhye10/index.html

I think IP6 is the derivative called inositol hexaphosphate from the

B-vitamin inositol. It is usually sold in health food stores because

it supports the immune system, helps lower cholesterol and reduces

risk of cardiovascular issues and strokes.

I think the website discusses how much to use and how often. I did

try IP6 with my dd who has bowel issues-- I was wondering if iron

loading might have been an issue for her, so I did use IP6 with her

for about a week. By the end of the week, her skin was very pale and

she had a kind of glassy look about her. So it was obviously doing

SOMEthing (not sure what), but I have not used it since. I have also

read that for IP6 to be most effective, it should be taken on an

empty stomach, so keep that in mind.

I think I typed yesterday that it is inositol hexophosphate or

something like that. (just do a google search www.google.com and

type in IP6 and it will call up the correct spelling for you).

You can buy it at a health food store.

The only minerals I have ever been able to give, are magnesium,

selenium, zinc. Giving anything else caused problems, because my son

had toxic levels of other minerals, especially calcium and iron. IP6

eliminated this toxicity issue.
