Exceptions are true but mainly for sworn officers and fire figheters.

Dispatchers are usually not exempt here in Michigan. However, our union is

a member of the Police Officers Association of Michigan and were able to be

grandfathered in with the officers and fire fighters. It might be that each

state is different also. It appears that this issue is interpreted in many

different ways, depending on where you are located. It would be too easy to

have one set way wouldn't it???

paycheck am i entitled to overtime<

The way I understand it 80 hours in two weeks

won't get it... It has to be over 40 hours in one week.

There are " exemptions " and many " ifs " and " buts " , it

can be pretty complicated.

Here's the government page.

the problem with me getting the overtime is that no part time dispatcher has

ever said anything about it....i am afraid that if i were to request the pay

they might cut my hours...and that is something they would most likely do.

so i am stuck either way...thanks for all the advise though
