Guest guest
Hi Lori! Oh gosh no you're not the only baby. I have a hire date of March 29, 2004. That makes me 2.5 mos old! LOL. Gretchen, who's back in the light of day for a few more hours. Then off for a nap and back to work at 2330! -----Original Message----- hi all, thanks for your responses. now was just wondering if I'm the " baby " on the board. any newbies out there or people who have less than ten years of experience on the job. thanks again! Guest guest
> so whaddya think of this biz? I must say I'm a tad intimidated by all these > people who have been on the job so long. They don't seem to have any problem > with stress. I expect you get used to that. Lori, folks who get stressed too easily won't stay such a long time. After the initial shock wears off, if they keep getting highly stressed by the job after they have " mostly " learned the job, they either leave on a medical or show good sense and find something else (even just a change of Dept). The long time dispatchers you find here are survivors. We all have stress from the job (at leas the acute stuff from specific calls), but almost all of us have found some method of coping with the chronic stress (e.g. let down from the adrenalin work high, shift work, supervisors, etc). Not always _good_ coping strategies, but we all have found something. Roy Mumaw CAPD Arroyo Grande
