Guest guest
I just wanted to drop a note and let you all know that I spoke with , #2's husband, tonight. He said was moved yesterday out of ICU into a regular room. He said they have been surrounded with wonderful people (37 were in the waiting room) and that her spirits are good. He went on to say that although it was a shock they knew, in the back of their minds, that CC was still a possibility (despite the negative results of the brushings) because of the high CA-19-9. The oncologist has been in to see her, but as of this afternoon he did not have all the pathology reports back so they are still waiting to see what the doc's recommendation will be. He is hoping to have more answers tomorrow and says that mentioned possibly calling me tomorrow. All that matters to me is that she is well, I'll be here whenever she is ready to talk. One last tidbit... my donor finally has an appt. to see a cardiologist to determine whether or not the irregular heartbeat is a reason to eliminate him as a donor. We are hoping that the results of this visit get to the tx team quickly. Although, I had my appt. today and was told that things probably wouldn't be resolved quickly. That irritated me, but didn't come as a surprise; it seems "speed" has been eliminated from the vocabulary of my tx team! I was told by the hep that IF he gets the O.K. from the cardiologist all that will remain of his eval is an MRI and a colonoscopy (at least as far as invasive testing is concerned). It sounds to me like all of this COULD be done quickly, but that doesn't mean it will be. I was told, by my coordinator, that once the report gets to the tx team they will meet and decide if they are going to move forward with the eval. THEN, if OK'd he will be scheduled for the remainder of the tests. I asked the hep how long after he was approved we would have to wait for surgery (assuming he gets approved, of course) and he said it depended on the surgeons, but they didn't tend to dawdle. He said that an adult to adult living donor liver tx had not been done at in quite awhile, so he wasn't sure. I must have looked as terrified as I felt, because he went on to explain that it hadn't been done in the last 6 mo. he was sure. Six months is one thing, but if it's been a year, or two, or ten....YIKES! This was something I hadn't even thought to ask, but may email the chief of surgery and pose that question. Well, enough for now. It has been a long week and it's only Wed.! Between the itching and the stresses of life I haven't slept well in days and am in dire need of some good sleep. On that note, I will sign off and post more when I know more. Thanks again to all of you who have lent your support and prayers to/for and her family. I have passed on your messages to and he'll see to it that is aware of how wonderful you all are!!! Sincerely,
