is walking!!!!

I just had to share this with all of you. is making so many advances in

everything. First, some of you may recall a recent post of mine regarding a

doctor that told us he wasn't sure had CHARGE. Well, he made me doubt

what we knew about and CHARGE. We went to see Meg in St. Louis last week

and Meg assured us that has CHARGE.

has started walking in the last couple of months and is even trying to

run and jump. Her PT was very impressed with her jumping on Tues. I think her PT

gets just as excited as we do. She gets tired easily from walking, but wants to

try to walk everywhere. She still falls a lot and she hits her head on the table

all the time. She knows it's there, but when she tries to reach for it, she just

misses it and then hits it with her head. She also runs into things all the

time. We were in IA Wed. and Thurs. and she was walking on carpet that had a lot

of patterns on it and was falling down constantly. I think all of this is vision

related.

As I said, we were in IA and she had to have a swallow study done. The test was

great. She passed her test with flying colors. She did not have any aspiration

and swallowed beautifully with every consistency they gave her. Now we get to

start teaching her how to chew (which she is learning with soft foods) and how

to drink from a cup. Her ENT told us that this process may take some time to

really get her eating and drinking everything, but it's a start. I couldn't stop

smiling yesterday on the way home.

One more thing, she is trying to talk more and more. A few of her words are

coming out really clear and others are developing. She is signing and talking

all the time. She is even trying to sing. She says " Mommy " really clear and I

got to travel to IA and St. Louis with her saying it over and over and over

again. Although it was driving me crazy, I still loved that she could do it.

Thank you to everyone on this list for all of the encouragement. I may not post

much, but I try to read the posts as often as I can. There is always something

to encourage us in some way when things are not going so good and even when they

are good.
