Go to the above website, then go to the bottom right where the

picture is, and move the mouse over it.

They claim that it only took 4 months, I wonder if they sell swamp

land too.

I encourage you to search the archives of this list. Many here have

been helped by this probiotic. But it is not a miracle overnight

cure. I know Jordan personally, and it took him years to get his

health completely back, not 4 months. You can see the pictures here:

http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/primaldefense.htm of how he looked

after a year and some months, and then almost 6 years later. It is

normal for any supplement that kills yeast to have some detox

effects. One needs to stick with the protocol for at least 90 days or

more sometimes before good results are seen.

If this is true, give me a 90 day supply and test it on me.

It also contains chlorella which could be a concern for mercury toxic people.

My son did horribly on primal defense; the longer he wa son it, the worse he

got. After six weeks I wised up and realized this was not die-off I was

seeing. Took him another six weeks to get back to normal. However, I've also

heard good reports from people on it.

Hi,

I am curious about a product called primal defence. It appears to me to contain

probiotics as well as the medium they were grown in. The sales description

sounds good to me, but I am worried about giving something (the medium they are

cultured in), which might have unpredictable effects. Has anybody used this

product or is able to comment on it?

I would also be interested to have other good probiotics recommended to me.

Thank you for any advice you are able to give.

Dagmar.

It also contains Iron, which is very controversial and can be very

detrimental in the human body, as many folks already are heavily

burdened with iron.

You also might want to verify the value of the specific bacteria it

contains as many companies load lots of different bacteria (many of

which have absolutely no value in the human body) into a product to make

it sound good to the uninformed and may, like you say, contain other

untested things.

>The sales description sounds good to me, but I am worried about giving

Your concerns are valid.

Remember SALES descriptions are to promote sales and don't validate the

benefit of the product's results, nor the actual results of the testing

on the product. I wouldn't put much faith in " sales hype " . Before

consuming such a product or giving it to a precious child or adult, I'd

ask to see the actual test results from a reputable independent

laboratory, and talk to a well trained and qualified person, not just to

a customer service representative who frequently has NO legitimate

background, but are highly trained to sooth customers.

>Has anybody used this product or is able to comment on it?

I've known many who've tried it, but I don't recommend it nor would I

personally take it. I do recall some specific problems with it related

to vision and pupil changes...check the archive for verification.

>I would also be interested to have other good probiotics recommended to

me.

I've had exceptional success with my patients for the past 12 years with

a product made by Natren, called the Healthy Trinity. There are several

other products mentioned on this board with good results.

Hey, thanks for all the caution on PD y'all. I will just keep it

natural from food for MN, especially with youngins. I had read the

Lancet piece before and forgotten. I am generally very anti-supplement

anyway. I had bought it and never used it, and thought I'd try it, but

best to err on the side of caution. And the antibiotics are the first

ds has ever taken ... he'll be fine with a variety of food options.

As long as we're talking about probiotics supplements I'd like to mention

that they do have a place; When one is traveling in a foreign country, for

example, a good probiotics can be indispensable to help ward off potential

bad critters in food.

I lived in a small village in Mexico and ate a packet of VSL3 about 10

minutes before meals. Maybe it was just luck but I never experienced the

gastrointestinal complaints that other folks endured. Probiotics are

supposed to be kept chilled but they can survive for at least a few days at

room temperature I am told.

Probiotics are supposed to have a much better chance of surviving human

digestion if they are ingested along with the substrate they were grown on.

As far as Primal Defense is concerned, the caplets contain the bacteria AND

the fermented substrate which the bacteria were grown on.

I would also add that there are hundreds, possibly thousands of strains of

B. lichenformis. All that can be siad right now is that one strain has been

tested to have questionable helpfulness. Similar statements can be made

about E. coli. Most strains of E. coli are harmless but at least one strain

can survive to cause problems in an acidic environment partly due to

feeding practices in the massive beef feedlot cities.

I for one TOTALLY believe in probiotics. I spent $100 a month on them

at one point, and they really helped my kids and me. I switched to kefir

and kefir beer eventually because they worked better and were

cheaper (and if you can travel with kefir beer, it works wonderfully).

The advantage of pills is portability, and you can (now) buy them in

most cities. Someday maybe you'll be able to buy kefir grains in

your local grocery!

PD was actually the first ever probiotic we used per Autism File but we switched to Biokult when they said they woudn't do caps anymore then they changed their minds

You should start this stuff slow and work up or you can have a nasty die off. Makes the poops darker too

PS Good news about the clear out - well done on the words!

I don't know how many other autism lists you frequent, but I would try and find other Irish members who are experiencing similar diffculties and band together and make waves. I seem to remember there was a woman in the Republic who was very active in seeking more support from the Irish government..don't remember the name unfortunately.

Kathy Sinott? Somethig like that - she is an MEP

I found this may have contact info

She has a child with autism too - very spunky lady
