Guest guest
3 different styles of HEADSETS to choose from (all Plantronics) 1) headband style, over the head, pad over the ear 2) encircle ear, rubber ear tube w/nipple that inserts into ear 3) encircle ear w/speaker that sits on top of ear most for dispatch have sound limiting mics (dark solid booms), others have the clear straw type mics (which pick up more background room noise). All used by Police dispatch, Call take, Fire Dispatch, and Information Room. 2 WIRELESS HEADSETS for use in Information Room only. You can choose between being corded or wireless as you choose using your own headset. DESK MICS are attached to the radio console if you want to use it. Back up radio has it's own stand alone mic. (love the wireless headsets!!!!!)
Guest guest
Either way with us. . . I just started at our local ambulance service comm center and you have a choice. Plantronics in ear headsets or the desk mic. I chose the headsets considering where I came from (our local SO which used headsets exclusively). I furnished my own 'big ear' dual earpiece headset (Plantronics H61) so I could hear traffic better and have better audio output from my mic. It's a matter of preference. . . I think headsets sound better, more noise cancellation from the mic, etc. etc. Matt Lane Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services (fmrly of Rutherford County SO) Murfreesboro, Tennessee >Message: 4 Date: Wed, 7 Jul 2004 20:37:14 -0400 > >Subject: Headset Poll... > >Had a discussion with my boss a little bit ago about the number of enters >who use headsets vs desk mics (or other means) to transmit. Guest guest
With our setup & the amount of radio traffic & number of Comm Center personnel, we HAVE to use headsets. We use the Wireless Plantronic over-the-ear headsets. When I first started there we had wired & then switched to the wireless headsets about a year ago & they are GREAT! I can go out the Comm Center, through two doors & to the break room & STILL talk on the radio. It's a must have if your center can afford them.
