Guest guest
Hi. I was on Lexipro for about six months and recently went off because I hope to have another baby. My doctor told me to take a half a dose for 7-10 days. I did that and have been off of it for 4 days now. I'm experiencing some weird symptoms though - dizziness and a kind of " zapping " feeling/sound in my ears. Has anyone had experience with this? I hate to go in for an appointment and pay full price (not covered by my insurance) if it's just a normal side effect that will go away. Should I be concerned or is this typical? Thanks
Guest guest
If you're having any unusual symptoms, you should call your doctor or a pharmacist. I've never taken Lexipro and don't know if it's anything to be worried about, but you should be able to get information about a medication over the phone and it's worth finding out. Guest guest
Definitely normal. You may find that your emotions are all over the place too. I was on Lexapro (with the blessing of my doctor) during my entire pregnancy with my son and he was born perfectly healthy with no weight problems. ________________________________ To: WTOAdultChildren1 Sent: Tuesday, July 14, 2009 1:02:33 PM Subject: Lexipro question Hi. Guest guest
Thanks! I've heard a lot of people take it while pregnant, but if I can go without it I will just for the extra peace of mind. So glad to hear a positive story about it though - it's a very helpful medication and everyone should enjoy being pregnant and having a baby. Boo depression. Horray Lexapro. > > Definitely normal. Guest guest
At the very least call your doctor and tell him or her your symptoms just in case. Tell them you are not covered and they should try to help you over the phone or work something out if need be. It never hurts to call! > > > > Definitely normal. Guest guest
If you ask your doctor about this over the phone, I don't think he will charge you. If its a normal side effect, he'll just say so and no problem. If it is not a normal side effect, then he will ask you to come in and then it would be worth it to pay for another appointment, don't you think? -Annie > > Hi. Guest guest
I've heard of this before - it's part of the withdrawal process for some people. Since you are already four days without it it is probably worth toughing it out, but really it's better to taper off antidepressants far more slowly. I hope you feel better soon! > > Hi. Guest guest
Hi.  I'm a PA student. Dizziness can be a side effect of lexapro. Typically you want to taper lexipro, because it is an SSRI, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. This means lexapro allows for more serotonin in your brain.  If you end it abruptly you may have some unpleasant side effects. Perhaps your physician should have had you taper a little more slowly, like half a pill for the 7-10 days and then half a pill every other day for a while, then perhaps every third or fourth day. You can always call your doctor's office. He/she could probably answer this question for you through a phone message via the nurse. That would not cost you an office visit. You should probably call so your doctor can look at all of the effects of your combined medications and medical history.   Subject: Lexipro question To: WTOAdultChildren1 Date: Tuesday, July 14, 2009, 1:02 PM Hi. Guest guest
This is about Paxil and " brain zaps " but you might find this page useful http://paxilfree.org/the-brain-zaps/ She's got a link to another site that might have advice on weaning off antidepressants. > > > > Hi.
