You hit the nail on the head when you mentioned that fear of conflict issue, and how it can go on indefinitely. I hate conflict, too, but I love my children way too much to let them walk all over me. There are a lot of things we live without, and getting help with the yardwork is one of them. And good for you for standing your ground! It is our job as parents to help them grow up, but financing their social life and entertainment system should not be part of the deal. I feel less stressed now. Thanks for sharing.
