Guest guest
That is great advice for anyone going there. Thank you for sharing with us. -- Christmas Holiday By Krista Bach. Hello; I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas, and a happy new year as well. I have just returned from spending a week in Cancun, Mexico. To pinpoint that is at the tip of South Mexico - it looks like Mexico is coming back up on the map, that's where I was. At the tip. Anyway I wanted to write to you and let you know that I learned something new about myself and how different things react with CHARGE Syndrome. I can t swallow a lot of things, but have to have Resouce or Ensure in order to meet my daily requirements, and if I don't I loose weight fast. So I went ahead and was ready for Hepititis in Ice cubes, dirty water, sunburn, and knowing that time goes by quickly. Arrived on December 21st in the afternoon fine, had my usual for dinner - Resource with some mushrooms that I love, then I went to bed for the night. It was a long day leaving home at 5:00 in the morning and getting there at the hotel by 3:00 in the afternoon. Sunbathed, had lunch and dinner on the 22nd, then on the 23rd my problems began. So far I've had food from their restaurant - three meals, and had their water plus other beverages from their restaurant. This is Mexico we're talking about, food and drinks unlike American, European, Australian, or even Canadian food or drinks. My day begins with stomach pains, and it increases through the day that by the time mid afternoon rolls around I'm in agony, then the diarreah and vomitting begins. Throughout the 23rd, 24th, 25th, and 26th of December I'm violently sick, can't eat, can't drink nothing. Constant diarreah, vomitting and abdominal pain. On the 27th of December the eve I go home I'm better then I've been all week But I still can't eat. I have occassional diarreah, and throughout this time I've been drinking bottled water in order to flush out what ever it was And I continued drinking bottled water on the 27th. I came home on the 28th. I have lost 7 lbs - that's litterly a pound a day. I have never gone to a tropical place like that before, nor have I ever eaten forgen food and had the same reaction. So my advice to you is if you re going to a tropical place, or Mexico, please make sure that your CHARGEr drinks bottled water at all times, sticks to their meal requirement, and that they keep away from their foods and drinks. Sincerely yours; Krista Bach. --------------------------------- Post your free ad now! Yahoo! Canada Personals
Guest guest
Oh, my! I'm so sorry for all the agony you went throught when you were supposed to be on vacation!! And at Christmas!! I'm glad you are better, that you made it home, and that you didn't require hospitalization or something. I guess it's good to remember that our CHARGErs are more delicate in some ways and may react more severely to things like foreign food and water. I know many people have trouble in Mexico, but your reaction does seem severe. I know my Aubrie could not afford to have an illness and weight loss like that. It would be much harder for her system to recover than if I went through the same thing. Hugs to you! Michele W Aubrie's mom 7 yrs
Guest guest
And that is why I'm telling you, so that when the opportunity comes, and you do have the chance to go away to a " exotic " place, you'll remember an experience an older CHARGEr went through and think twice about food and drinks.
