Guest guest
but I'm just five days away, and very easily confused! Can we talk about GAS? What do you think is the best product for the gas pains? And do you use liquid or chewables? I thought it was interesting what someone wrote about walking it off. I haven't heard that one before. Makes me laugh though because if I eat too many carbs now and get all gassy, each step I take is followed by a little poot! LOL -
Guest guest
Hi Phyzeme is a great one and one that is safe for post-ops. It is a small gelcap and you just swallow it as is. And yes, walking is DEFINATELY necessary to deal with the gas. The thing is is that immediately post-op, the gas is not just down " there " but is in your chest, shoulders, hips - everywhere. And you have to move it around to redirect the gas out of you. Hope this helps Caroline Lap RNY 5/2/03 367/310/150 www.tinyurl.com/bkld > but I'm just five days away, and very easily confused! Guest guest
Lmao @ . That's really funny. I am one of the ones who talked about walking to get rid of the gas pains. That's what I did, I didn't bother taking anything for it. I just didn't see the point personally. Everyone is different though and if you feel you need it, then go for it. I guess I just got really lucky and was able to walk it off. I May Have Brought This Up Before.... but I'm just five days away, and very easily confused! Can we talk about GAS? Guest guest
LOL My My you sure have a way with words LOL ROFL I am sorry for what you had to endure but you sure are funny the way you put it. I have a great imagination and oh boy LOL I won't say anymore. I had my daughter the regular way so I did not go through what you did but you got that sweetie out of it. I guess my dad who is 69 he eats a lot of high fiber foods and he stays as regular as clockwork. High fiber cereals and oatmeal and he drinks a lot of prune juice. After surgery speak to your doctor about eating a couple of prunes a day or some diluted prune juice or pear nectar or apple juice should keep you right as rain besides the medicine that may be prescribed. Hope this helps Lori Anne
Guest guest
i had both gas and constipation after my c-section and i thought i would die - i'm more scared of that than anything else - the hospital was giving me 2 colace and i got a suppository and it did nothing - got home after 4 days and kept taking 2 colace then bought the colace withthe laxative and nothing - i swear i called my husband in the middle of the night b/c i had a turd stuck right there (sorry) and i couldn't get it out - i told him to call the hospital or something i felt like i was dying - and actually when it finally came out - i had whats called an impaction - i had a ball about the size of a baseball and equally as hard finally come out b4 i passed out and then ALL that medication i had taken kicked in and i had the flying shits - seriously - this scares me more than surgery itself and i will be on the quest for a solution so that doesn't happen again. sorry - not my fav topic but somebody has to talk about it (LOL) visit our website www.geocities.com/tanyarn96/countryside.html -- Re: I May Have Brought This Up Before.... Guest guest
I spent Saturday and Sunday in this same situation. I vow I will NEVER let this happen again. I am 8 weeks post op and had never had this problem before WLS. So here's what one needs to do to prevent this: 1. Add some fruit, vegs and carbs every day (I had just been eating protein when I got into this fix) 2. Take Beneful 2x daily 3. I was always drinking water (64 oz) but even w/ all of that I still ended up with an impaction. Because of the minimal of amount of food and the protein, I was in big trouble. 4. Have some Miralax on hand if this happens again. (I finally got some relief with Milk of Magnesia and some glycerin suppositories.) I was in terrible pain Prevention is the name of the game.
