Hi Diane! Congrats on your date! Where do you live and who's your surgeon?

I live in Plantation, FL and I will be attending a seminar Tues. morning at

Cleveland Clinic (Dr. Szomstein).

New to group with date

Hello. I am new to this group and found out that I am going to have

surgery on the 30th of July. I've done a lot of research, but and

still unsure of what the first few days after surgery are going to be

like. Can anyone help?

Hi Diane :)

Welcome to the group and congrats on your date! Have you looked at

the profiles on obesityhelp.com? These were VERY helpful and

encouraging to me, and I'd strongly suggest checking them out to

learn about others' experiences. My profile can be found at

www.tinyurl.com/bkld :)

Sending smiles :)

Take it slow is all I can say. I rested, slept and showered alot. I

remember showers feeling exceptionally GREAT-why I have no clue. I

couldn't do a whole lot until about in week 2 home. I had an open RNY-

cut from brest bone to top of belly button. One main point my doc

stress'es-your body will let you know what you can do. If you get

tired-rest, if your sleepy-sleep. Do NOT push yourself. He stress'es

that it takes 9 months to heal from an operation.

sknny2b,

When were you able to go back to work after you surgery?

I am have an open rny on July 8th. I have an interview for a great job on Monday

and if I get it I want to be able to tell them about three to four weeks I will

be out.

I have been waiting three months to even get an interview for a job.

It is just so crazy up here in Fargo, ND.

I live in a small town south of Sarasota and am having the surgery in

Bradenton. Dr Esti is doing it. I'm looking forward to having the

surgery, but still am a little unsure of what the immediate recovery

is going to be like.

Hi there :)

The immediate recovery from WLS is SOOOO different for different

people. The only way you will know what it will be like for you is

to experience it. I have a VERY low tolerance to pain, yet breezed

through surgery. Others I know experienced a lot of pain. The best

thing to do, in my opinion, is prepare for the worst and expect the

best :)

Welcome to the group :)

I will second what Caroline said, check out some obesity help profiles, they

will give you a pretty good indication of what to expect. On my website, I

have also documented what I felt and everything. Good luck with your

surgery, you will do great :)

I could comfortably went back to work after 2 weeks-I have a sit down

job. However, my doc had already preapproved me for 6 weeks with my HR

department and I was getting paid the same amount as if I was working

so-you can guess that I stayed out my entire 6 weeks-by choice-not

need.
