Guest guest
Hi Kathy, Magnesium is a natural pain reliever and your diet may be to blame for the flare up too as we are coming into the salad season. Nightshade stuff is bad for the arthritis which include toms, peppers and pots. I have them out of my diet for awhile now and it is better, not gone, but more bareable. Mag: is also a relaxer and is best taken at night, I used to take mine twice a day and now that I take the whole dose at night I am sleeping better and am more awake in the day. Fish oil [omega 3] is really good for the inflamation too and the weather is also a factor in how bad it is so you might want to increase the dose for a time. As for the folic I am not sure on that but would think that would be OK as it is not involved with inflamation to my knowledge. Just checked my book and they say to take the folic, also add anti oxidents like natural vit.E 400 IU. You may want to try reducing the meat protein in your diet too. There are lots of other stuff in the book but I will leave it at that but it is written by an MD who then went naturopath and his wife who is a nutritionist. My routine has been pretty much the same, just the folic acid addition is the only thing I can think of. I believe the dose is 400 mcg. I know it's 400, but mg or mcg I don't recall and I'm at work. mcg is what feels right. ) I did take 2 the first day and then re-read the bottle and it says 1 per day, so I take one. I've been driving a lot, but that's not unusual either. Oh well, I was just hoping someone could shed some light for this poor, dim mind. I'm very tired tonight and will be going to bed earlier than usual when I get home. ) Kathy >^,,^< KitzCat146@... http://www.chaytongroup.com/modernbill/order/index.php?aid=ka081104 http://www.heartwarmers4u.com/members/?kitzcat kitzcat2001 on Yahoo Messenger kitzcat on MSN Messenger In a cat's eyes, all things belong to cats. - English Proverb Discover Yahoo! I do like salads, but I don't like peppers and eat very few tomatoes because I don't like them a lot. I haven't been eating any more of them than usual though. Potatoes either, although I do like those quite a bit. As for meat protein, you're talking about my favorite foods here. ) As a matter of fact, I had a steak for breakfast. It could be the magnesium. I'll have to check and see how much is in my multi and investigate what foods are good sources. I hesitate on taking extra vit. E with all the hype going on about it just now. It's already in my multi and I know it's in milk. Oh well, it's not as bad today as it was and it's supposed to be a really nice weekend with temps in the 70's. Sounds like a mini vacation on the porch with my book and a bottle of water. ) Kathy >^,,^< KitzCat146@... http://www.chaytongroup.com/modernbill/order/index.php?aid=ka081104 http://www.heartwarmers4u.com/members/?kitzcat kitzcat2001 on Yahoo Messenger kitzcat on MSN Messenger In a cat's eyes, all things belong to cats. - English Proverb __________________________________ Yahoo! Guest guest
Kathy Taking that much ibuprophen, you're going to need all the B vitamins you can get, particularly folic acid, B12, B5, and B6. NSAIDs and stomach acid meds are well known to cause deficiencies in these vitamins. Unless there's a filler in the new folic acid that you're now taking, don't see how it could be the folic acid. As a matter of fact, I'm wondering if it could be the opposite thing happening, on acct of all the ibuprophen---anemia for one of these vitamins. I just happened to have been taking lots of ibuprophen AND Pepsid AC at the time I discovered the folic acid anemia. I dropped the Pepsid AC and cut way back on the ibuprophen, though I still take the latter once in awhile, if I feel I absolutely have to, but in much smaller doses now. Guest guest
Ibuprofen also may have an adverse effect on the kidneys(tylenol on the liver) if taken in massively. When I was in the hospital last year, I had pros this way and found out , because I was taking ibuprofen heavily to help with the pain from the cellulitis and other infections.... I was also severly anemic. Q > > > > I seem to be going through a flare up in my arthritis. > > I noticed it yesterday evening. I was getting really > > stiff and my back was hurting.
