Guest guest
No, I don't think this diet is a hardship particularly. It can be very interesting. And yes, he deserves a fine dinner out as soon as I get the green light for chewing. I'm just not sure I'll be able to keep up with him, though. And right now, he says we are not allowed in restaurants until I can eat without a mirror (I can, but I get food everywhere). I say I am not allowed in restaurants until I can drink from a glass - something that still eludes me, as well as the red wine that accompanies it ... I've tried without the elastics, but half of it goes down my chin and neck, and that's a bloody waste of good wine! Right now the only place he can take me is to an ice cream parlour, and even then I retreat to the car to eat it ... > Good Heavens, !!! > > Every Renaissance prince who ever lived would envy what you've been > eating... Guest guest
, I'm confused... I thought that most of your numbness is gone. So what's preventing you from using a glass properly? -john > No, I don't think this diet is a hardship particularly. Guest guest
, my lower lip is still numb, as well as my chin, upper lip and cheeks just along my nose, although the numbness itself appears to be reducing nicely. Because my mouth was moved up 7 mm, I have this droopy shape that seems to encourage liquids to flow out the corners of my mouth. I'm having trouble learning how to make a good lip seal without a mirror. It could also be the shape of what I was using too - a scotch tasting glass with a flare at the top and a narrow lip to it. We used that since we thought the flow would be narrower coming out. Maybe I should just try a regular glass, one that covers the whole area of my lower lip. It's really frustrating. I will never take drinking from a glass for granted again, that's for sure! > > , > > I'm confused... I thought that most of your numbness is gone. Guest guest
That explains it. I was under the mistaken impression that your numbness had cleared, but it sounds as if you have about the same degree as & I. Once your bands are off, you'll be able to start using your tongue to drink from the glass. It's not as gross as it sounds. The tongue stays just behind the lower lip and above the teeth, discreetly out of sight; then, you slide the glass back until you feel it touch your tongue. It's hard to explain, but you'll get the hang of it once you try it a few times. -john > , my lower lip is still numb, as well as my chin, upper lip and > cheeks just along my nose, although the numbness itself appears to be > reducing nicely. Guest guest
Thanks, . I will give that technique a try. I am getting a bit better at putting my elastics on, so I took them off last night for dinner. We'll try again tonight.
