Hi,

Another question here--am interested in this--when I had my RNY

had to sleep in a recliner for a while. Did you have any special

sleeping arrangements with the TT???

Tricia,

I had a tummy tuck/hernia repair about 2 months ago. I am 5'6 " and

weighed about 170. That was not my goal---I'd prefer to be under 150,

but the hernia repair was necessary. I didn't have a huge apron, but

enough of a gut that I could look pregnant at times, and would all

the time if I didn't have such a big chest that sticks out farther

than my tummy.

The price varies--I've seen several plastic surgeons, and have been

quoted fees ranging from 1500.00 to 4500.00. Budget conscious that I

am, I went with the 1500.00, which was not a plastic surgeon, but the

doc that did my RNY. He's a general surgeon. But I think he did quite

well with my tummy tuck--I'm quite pleased. It was more painful than

my RNY, to me, but I think that's because I didn't have the morphine

pump that I had had with my RNY--They were giving me demoral shots,

and they weren't helping at all. When they gave me Percoset the day

after surgery, that made me feel much better. The pain was manageable

with pain relievers, and was only really bad for a week. Then you

just have to be careful when getting up from a reclined position, or

anything that will use your abdominal muscles, for a few months. But

I went dancing at a club 11 days out of surgery (albeit not with my

usual rhythm, but still...). I started jogging 5 weeks out of

surgery.

The funny thing is that once you get started with plastic surgery, it

can be somewhat addictive. I started out just wanting the tummy tuck,

and eventually my boobs done. Now that I had the tummy tuck, I'm

looking at my thighs and they look so much worse now that my tummy

looks good. So now I'm thinking of getting my legs done when I get my

boobs done. Then I wonder what will need improving after that...?

Probably my bank account! But I feel it is totally worth it to feel

good in this body that I carry around each day.

Shirley,

I was one of the weird ones that didn't like sleeping in a recliner

after my RNY--I prefered to lay flat or sit upright on the bed. Post

tummy tuck, I also preferred to lay flat. It was hard to stand and

walk upright for awhile, so I was hunched over at times. Laying flat

felt good to straighten my back, and didn't put stress on my

staples/incision. Now getting up was a bear, but I always had hubby

pull me up, or pushed myself up with my arms by leaning on the

bedside table.

Glad to help,
