I wonder why my doctor put me on this stuff! I am discontinuing immediately my taking this drug and will notify my doctor to this effect. If he needs to prescribe me anything else, he will have to let me know at this time. I just hope it doesn't take him too long since I really depend on this medication to allow me to eat my meals. Without it, I am unable to eat anything. Thanks again for the heads up. Andre'

He is the type of doctor who would weigh out the benefits and risks of taking a particular drug before prescribing it to me. The thing I don't understand is, he usually explains all of this to me when he writes his prescriptions. He will tell me that he is switching my meds and the reasons for the switch. This is really out of character for him, unless he was unaware of this recall at the time of my last visit. He writes me prescriptions that allows me to get multiple refills off of them (5-6 per script). Perhaps he forgot I am taking this medication since it has been a long time since I had him write me a script for this medication. Whatever his reasons for putting me on this drug, I am officially off of them as of this moment. I may suffer at first but I really fear heart attacks and, since my family has a history of these things (most recently my mother died of an irregular heartbeat at the age of 55 yrs) and I am approaching that magical number (50 yrs old) in 2 years (yech) I have been doing fairly well since I have returned to work last week. My energy level is way off and I find I need more naps than previously. I was also informed by my employer that I was going to lose my position due to my illness. They are supposed to give me something less demanding and stressful to do. I get bored quickly and would rather do nothing than do " busy work " so I am considering taking permanent disability and staying home. Why fight this illness? Maybe this was meant to be all along? After that i guess i have to apply for long term disability (which my office pays for). After these family medical leaves are used up they do not have to save my particular position, but can offer me any job that is open. I have been gone for 7 weeks this time and the time has gone by very quickly, because i haven't really " done " anything. And haven't felt well. I do feel better in not having the pressure of " having " to go to work and worry about getting sick, feeling bad, coming home and going to bed etc;. So it has been a blessing for me in many ways. Maybe it will aid in my recovery to enable me to eventually go back to work, but i am not worrying about it. it helps though, that i write articles for our local newspaper - i still feel like i am accomplishing something. if i did not have that - i'm sure i would feel a lot differently. debbie
Guest guest
this is to andre or anyone else currently taking propulsid. i was on an erythromycin elixir before i started propulsid. i was having an acute attack with pseudocysts and when i would take the erythromycin i felt during the attack i became sicker so my dr switched me over to propulsid. they both are motilty agents and move everything along. i hope this gives some relief knowing there are more drugs out there. when i talked with my pancreatic specialist this week i got the impression there was not many more drugs that act like these two. talk with your doctors and i hope this helps. jim s
Guest guest
Jim, Thanks for the information on alternatives to Propulsid. I have a call into my doctor's office currently and will request to be placed on this other drug. Andre'

I have never heard of this one. Does Jerry have gastrophoresis? It sounds like it may help that. Is there any web site that talks about this? I would like to add it to the list of links on the home page. Karyn
