Ellen-

Thanks. Coming from a " kid " , that means a lot. I hope my son gets it some day

-- how much we love him. I mean, the love of a mom for a child is so

incredible. It's indescribable. I hope someday he feels that for his own child

and then realizes that I've always felt that for him too.

is scheduled for his IFSP next week. I will see

how it goes and then decide what next step I will

take. The " total communication " school providing

's EI services already indicated that they will

not be able to service him once he turns 3. They are a

communication school for hearing impaired kids and

's primary impairment is not hearing. The

therapists have been very kind not to label or put

numbers on cognitive factors but this will be part of

the discussion at this meeting. I have a feeling that

they are trying to tell me that although they are not

neurologists, 's behavior is very " autistic-like "

in some areas. He is very interested in everything

that is presented to him but does not do anything that

is " functional " with these items. I guess I will have

to determine whether we need to look at schools which

cater to the " autistic " population so that the sensory

integration program would be strong and he could get

intesive " communication " therapy. He will also need

feeding therapy, once his hearing is determined, he

will need an itinerant teacher of the deaf, physical

therapy, occupational therapy, vision therapy, etc. I

hope there is a school that can provide all this...
