Guest guest
look at your vitamin and mineral supplement to see there could be some improvements. Also some meds will affect hair growth Tasha Catoire wrote: > anyone have any ideas on what else we can check to see why isabelas hair is > thinning? we checked the albumen, prealbumen and zinc. we are giving her > extra protein but lately it is getting worse. she has been under anesthesia > three times since november so i dont know if that could be contributing to > what is going on? she is alittle under her target weight but is gaining? any > suggestions? > thanks, tcatiore > > _________________________________________________________________ > Join the world’s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. > http://www.hotmail.com > > > " The Ketogenic Diet....a realistic treatment option, NOT just a last resort! Guest guest
Tasha, What meds is she on?. is on epilim (depakote), he has lost his curls, and his hair has thinned since we had a big increase in Dec. This also happened when his seizures first hit and he was put on it as his first med back in Jun 2000. Devastating, as he changed 'on the outside' as well as behaviourally. It returned to normal about 5 mths later, now we're hoping the same will happen again once this latest decrease takes effect. Guest guest
I want you to be aware that on the Atkins/Low-Carb board I have heard a handful of people mention about hair thinning. I think for a lot of people their hair gets better, but for some this appears to cause the hair loss. Also, for whatever it's worth, my daughter is on Dilantin and Dilantin causes hair growth. There is unwanted hair growth and coarseness on the body, but she has the most gorgeous, thick, head of hair you've seen. I know these don't address your problem directly, but I just thought I would share the info. > > anyone have any ideas on what else we can check to see why isabelas hair is > thinning? we checked the albumen, prealbumen and zinc. we are giving her > extra protein but lately it is getting worse. she has been under anesthesia > three times since november so i dont know if that could be contributing to > what is going on? she is alittle under her target weight but is gaining? any > suggestions? > thanks, tcatiore > > _________________________________________________________________ > Join the world's largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. > http://www.hotmail.com
Guest guest
My daughter's hair is also thinning badly - when we initiated the diet up at Hopkins, the docs there said it could be from her Depakote and they told us to add some extra zinc to her vitamins. We are hoping her beautiful blond hair comes in thicker once we finally are able to wean the Depakote! Guest guest
, was a toe walker as a toddler, stopped at about 2, epilepsy started at 3 and a half. When he used to run as a littlie, he used to hold one arm behind him, people used to comment on it, but as he was 'normal' in every other respect, in fact really switched on, no investigations were done. When he is in bad seizure mode, or really doped up, he reverts back to toe walking. There is no lack of mobility etc, no contracture, or spacticity, so neuro says no problem. Walks normally when in a good patch. She always lays on one side of her face, so it wasn't being rubbed off by a pillow, etc. I asked the dietitian about it and she suggested selenium. When I started supplementing with that, I've seen it start to grow back. Guest guest
This is mentioned in Freeman's book on the diet. It " was " to be studied further. Our daughter started losing her hair too. We switched vitamin and mineral supplements to Whole Life and her hair stopped falling out. It could have been something else as nothing is very stable while on the diet, but that is my best guess.
