Hmmmmmm, let's see. Oh yeah, its the last week of the summer vacation

and I have been spending maximum time with my kids. School starts tomorrow

and Wednesday. We went to the movies and saw Dog of Flanders (with

Kreatecomm from the main OSSG list); I finally finished the bathroom

remodeling . . . I demolished it to the bare walls . . . all that was left

was the tub and surround, faux painted the walls and ceiling, selected, cut

and laid the tile and then grouted the new floor, I finally finished by doing

the floor molding. That was unbelievably physical! What does that have to

do with weight loss surgery? Well, I hated that bathroom for 10 years, the

surgery gave me the strength and energy to do such a project! Doing it

myself saved over $1,000.00 and it couldn't have happened a year ago!

I am also working on all my Xmas boutique ceramics . . . porecelain

millinium pins and ceramic Xmas trees and custom plates. And shopping for

back to school stuff! And shopping for myself, I finally have gone through

all the sizes in my closet and everything is too big . . . except for the

size 31 Guess jeans, I can get them over the thighs, but not over the hips

YET. They are my goal . . . remember years ago when Oprah went on optifast

and finally fit into her size 10 Calvin Klien jeans? These pants represent

" making it " to me . . . and I'm almost there!

So life is good, people are terrific, business is great, and my waist is

getting smaller . . . not bad . . . :o)

I see it's working. We have 191 members now. Maybe a lot of them are under

a year and just lurking, or maybe this lack of Labor Day messages means that

one year out is so smooth that there's just not much to talk about. Oh,

well.

<< I would love to be at 135 but I

don't think thats ever going to happen. How tall are you? Is'ent it funny

how those people feel free to comment on your weight now. Like they would

have said " Sue you really are getting fat, are you a compulsive overeater? "

Ha. Jan C. 3-11-98 RNY >>

Sue your weight loss is wonderful! Congratulations on what you have achieved!

Don't worry about what other people say...they are jealous of your beautiful

new body and attitude!

Jan-don't worry about what the scale says...have your body fat checked and if

you are in the healthy range-rejoice at being healthy! I am 5'3 " and would

love to weigh 120 lbs (which is what the " weight charts " say I should weigh

but it ain't gonna happen because at 155 lbs my body fat is 23.5% which means

that I only have a total of 37 lbs of fat on my body right now so if I lost

every lb of fat I had on me I would still weight 123 lbs and be dead-LOL!).

Remember that many of us who have been overweight a long time or our entire

lives have high bone density and larger muscle mass in our lower bodies than

others and also have thousands of collapsed fat cells that are never going

anywhere and also take up space and add to our weight. That is why body fat

is the best way to measure your weight loss success (by the way any local gym

can measure it for you with calipers-pincher-like devices that measure the

amount of fat on various parts of your body-midriff, thighs, biceps, etc.).

And you CAN change your body fat even if your weight loss has stopped like

mine did by exercising and watching your diet...I have lost 3% body fat in

four weeks through working out. My goal is to drop my body fat to 17-18%

eventually which would take me from " healthy " to " athletic " ...a term I never

in my life would imagine could be used to describe me! Please don't let the

scale rule your existence...think healthy instead! Best wishes for continued

success to both of you! :)

Wow!! You are one busy lady. I bought a pair of white size 10 jeans this

weekend. What an awesome feeling. I ran over to the plus size department and

put them up next to the 24's I was wearing this time last year. Oh, my gosh.

It

does make you stop and think.

I am busy! ? But . . . I think I overdue sometimes because of messages I

got in childhood like, " your lazy and you'll never amount to anything " (Mom),

then I got the other messages as well " you're smart and outgoing and can do

or be anything you want " (Dad who was never around). Even as an adult the

negative messages come flooding back! I know they were cruel and untrue and

a result of mental illness, but they are so deeply ingrained. I think I over

do just to prove myself that they are false. When doing positive

affirmations or just reviewing what is going on in my life, the negative

(abet untrue) messages are always there!

What a clever idea to compare your new size jeans with the old at the

store! The only old pants I have are those stretchy denim leggings, I was

down to the last pair that fit before surgery. Congratulations on the size

10's, I'm looking forward to getting there too!

victim of time zone appathy. Here in San Francisco on a holiday it is waaay

to early. I have a similar problem when I'm ready to start talkin at 9pm

pst and most everyone has already gone to bed.
