Guest guest
Belinda- It sounds to me like you should call and try to get on at Kmart again. But gather your thoughts and get your resentment under control. You don't want to bring that onto new management. Start fresh and positive. And don't offer to work without pay. No one else would expect to do that and you shouldn't either. You should be paid from Day One. What most people do is a paid trial period after which you can be let go or kept on. You shouldn't have to work for no pay to prove yourself. Besides, you've worked there before so they should know you can be successful. Good luck. I can imagine how embarrassed you are feeling. But you didn't do anything wrong. You shouldn't be embarrassed to be you. You are wonderful and you will be an asset to any employer! The old management should be embarrassed for treating you poorly. It sounds extremely unfair. A person without disabilities would not have accepted being let go in that manner -- and you shouldn't either. Get your chin up and go back in there fresh, positive, and confident. Guest guest
I agree with everything Michele says, especially don't offer to work without pay. That undervalues yourself. You deserve to be paid as much as anyone else. And go in to get hired now, with a contract rather than trying to make them hire you, because the old management was wrong to let you go. You can do this! If you need moral support, have your sister go with you. Kim > Belinda- > It sounds to me like you should call and try to get on at Kmart again. Guest guest
Belinda, doesn't sound to me like you have anything to be embarrassed about--seems they are the ones who let this drop. If you liked it there and your sister is encouraging you to try again, sounds like a plan. I don't think your sister would encourage you to apply if she did not think it would work for you (and her, too). Good luck. pam > >

Guest guest
Belinda, Oh it is always nice to hear from you even though your topic isn't a happy one. I miss you. I agree with your sister. I vote you go back and talk with the manager there. I know you are nervous, embarrassed and/or shy. That's understood. I get that way too. I think everyone does. But you are one of the bravest individuals I have ever met. When you get ready to go in again, remember all you have done in your life, all you have accomplished, and keep that in your heart when you talk. The other part of this is what happens if you don't try? You'll just be right where you are now. And what happens if you do? You might not be hired and you'll still be where you are now,or you might possibly be hired again. There's no harm in trying. Belinda, you are in the same boat that Patty is in. Things stink. Patty's case manager only does what we tell her to do. It should be the other way around. Patty is the one investigating things, applying for things.... But it shouldn't have to be that way for anyone. There are a few people/places I think should be taken down a notch or two. Hey, just an idea, want me to call your case manager? I'm serious.
