Guest guest
Tim, Good luck to Marcia. Bone is often morcellised and mixed with compounds such as hydroxyapatite, as used for coating the BHR prosthesis, so as to promote bone growth. Very established technique used in different bone re- structuring procedures to replace missing bone. McMinn and Treacy use the same method, but with the bone debris created during the operation to make up incompetent areas of the acetabulum. I had two BHR's done one week apart, 15 months ago. Best thing I ever did. I can cycle and walk any distance any terrain. I play soccer with two very active boys and play regular squash. Absolutely no hip problems, pains or after effects. Some of my muscles object but I have noticed significant changes for the better over last 3-4 months. Make sure Marcia is patient it takes a while to really feel the achievement. If ever frustration sets in get Marcia to think of the days immediately pre-op. In my view it is an amazing procedure!! Roy Fit, healthy, newly active, 51 years.
