Guest guest
Margie, Very sorry to hear about your complications. I hope it all turns out well for you. What were the symptoms of your fracture? Did Doctor Mont discover it before you left the hospital? The reason I ask is that I am having some very odd pains when I put weight on my operated leg. I'm post-op 3.5 weeks with Dr. Mont. Regards, Mike Wolfe
Guest guest
Hi Margie: Thanks for participating in Surfacehippy. I am a new groupie and am learning lots...........also am a candidate for a new hip. In the last twelve months I have studied and concluded that a Converse resurface process would be best for me. I have scheduled with Dr. Vail at Duke for end of May. Question: What arrangements with insurance have you made for the two processes you are doing? Did you receive acceptance for the Converse and are you going to be able to utilize insurance with the THR? Also, was your unfortunate experience of the bone fracture the second for Dr. Mont? Best of luck and happy dancing in any case. Do you Salsa? Regards,
Guest guest
Margie, I'm very sorry to hear about your needing to go through a second operation, and at the same time I am delighted that you didn't have an infection. Your good spirits and positive attitude are an inspiration. Take good care, ne From: mblawler@... I'm sure the success rate of curing infection with the six week course is very high. The good news for me is that I didn't have an infection after my second surgery on 2/2. The bad news is that I had a fracture, apparently caused at surgery. It showed up about a week later and Dr. Mont was not able to save the Conserve Plus. Last Friday I had it removed and a traditional THR was performed. . One of the nurses at Sinai told me there had been one other fracture under the study. This was not a complication I'd expected but such is life. I'll still be out of pain and able to dance. I'm feeling pretty good already and hope to get back to work on a limited basis in two weeks. Best regards to all. Margie
Guest guest
, I had received approval for both hips for the hip replacements but dont' really think they knew they would be Conserve Plus resurfacings. I don't know what my insurance company will do about the THR but considering a fracture needs attention I would expect that they will cover it. I was told by a nurse at Sinai that mine was the second fracture under the Conserve Plus trial by Dr. Mont. I have been a ballet and modern dancer in the past, but don't think I'll be able to return to that so I'll be interested in couples dancing such as Salsa. Good luck to you. Guest guest
Thanks for the comeback Margie: I visited Dr. Mont and am aware of some of the circumstances surrounding your experience. I know many people with very active lives using their THRs (but not ballerina active);so I expect you will do fine. Enjoy your new mobility. I appreciate the comments on your experiences. I'm sure they will be helpful to a lot of people, including me. Regards,
Guest guest
Margie: I'm sorry C+ did not work out on your second hip but thank goodness you're okay. Don't rush getting back to work. You've more than earned some extra time to recuperate. Guest guest
Margie: I had C+ for both hips with Dr Mont early this year and had good luck. Hang in there with your unfortunate bad luck and Hal's right - don't rush it. I pushed a little too much on PT recently and had to back off. Healing will take its due time.
