Guest guest
Hi, what other research have you done about cystic fibrosis, this is a genetic condition that is pasted from parents to children, at this time cystic fibrosis is not a survivable disease process, it might be wise to being on some of the web searches under altavista and yahoo. Don't forget the good old standby of the Tabers Medical Dictonary. There is multitude of information available just keep checking. Has your boyfriend seen a genetic counselor? Guest guest
i donno, they say he has cf, but just his pancreas in effected. and the sweat test showed up high. but his lungs and other orgins are fine. they know its generic, but dont know what causes it, i guess thats why they blame cf. hes had it all his life, for awhile hes been doing alot better, but they put him on an experimental drug, and he got real sick on it. Ive been trying to learn a much as i can about his sickness, so o can help him through it the best i can. thanks, Jen

Its great that you are so involved in your mother's health care; not an easy job for many reasons. Its easier to say what will cause problems than what won't. I'm sure you know the major no-no's are alcohol & fats. Proteins can be a problem too, maybe because protein foods are usually also heavy on fat. I've found that even the smell of frying foods, especially bacon, will bring on an attack. As for what is tolerated........I just plain can't figure it out. I have gotten sick on clear liquids like jello, popsicles, clear tea. Sometimes fat-free crackers with jelly are good, sometimes not. Sometimes I crave the carbonated sodas & it helps, other times the carbonation just adds to bloating & pressure. Good luck to you & your family. Let us know how y'all are doing. jang
