BMI of 35 & up with comorbidities is probably what the nurse said. be sure & do lots of research, you'll probably need to explain the surgery & all it entails @ the psych eval. best of luck. lori h. And yes, with a BMI of 35-39 and co-morbidities such has Diabetes or High Blood Pressure some insurances will approve this surgery. Also, Depression is sometimes actually considered a co-morbidity and can aid in your approval for surgery. I've never heard of anyone being turned down for surgery for depression alone.
