We get people who see an officer doing a report and think he is slumped over his steering wheel, but, as far as I know, there has never been one saying an officer was shot since I've been working there. I guess the flashing lights and sirens must be like having the circus come to the neighborhood. I am sure the pissed-off looks on the PO's faces must add to the amusement.
