Guest guest
I have been a member of this group for about 6 months, and I had hoped to get a conserve plus surface replacement at JRI, but since I am 150 down on the list and most likely my insurance won't pay for the procedure, it looks like I'm going to get a THR in Jan. 2001 with my local ortho. surgeon. It appears that he wants to use the Zimmer prosthesis and the highly cross-linked polyethelene acetabular cup. Can anyone give me an information group similar to this one that relates to total hip replacements. Also, any input from this group regarding THR is welcome. Thanks and best of luck to all. Guest guest
Bill, There is a web site named Totally Hip which may be of help to you. Guest guest
To Bill Karlock: As you may be aware there are other test trial sites for the Conserve plus. Some of the sites might have significantly less candidates. Also the lists will shorten due to atrition so I would check them. Also there is a trial in March with the Cormet2000. It is a similar device and made in UK. The company is Corin. You can go to there website and contact them. They have done a lot of resurfacing. Lastly there is a company called BioPro that has an approved resurfacing device. Cer/Poly. Small company but worth looking at. Concerning hip arthroplasty. You can go to totally hip. org where there is an active support group(board). Go slow looking into thr. The biggest problems are osteolysis and aseptic loosening of the implant. Look real hard at implants and the generation of implant and design. Also cement vs cementless. Bearing surfaces, hard/hard surfaces are being used to decrease wear debris that leads to osteolysis. Guest guest
Any idea which sites have shorter lists? I thought there were only about 4 or 5 doctors doing this nationwide. rottyking@... on 11/14/2000 05:37:03 AM Please respond to surfacehippyegroups To: surfacehippyegroups cc: (bcc: Pat A Applegate/OH/BANCONE) Subject: Re: Re: Hospitals in England To Bill Karlock: As you may be aware there are other test trial sites for the Conserve plus. Guest guest
I would try Dr. Boyd in Oregon. I don't hear much about him. Also Dr. Vail in NC.
