My pancreatitis was due to a structural abnormality which I inherited. I

don't know where that places my answer but the disease is called Pancreas

Divisum.

Andre', if you haven't responded why don't you pick inherited. From what I

have read, most structural abnormalities are inherited. I should have clumped

those two together.

Hi all,

I know a few people have answered the survey by sending a post to the group.

he survey is designed to be confidential or anonymous. Go to " Pancreatitis

@ONElist.com " , click on survey, there you can write your answer. So far there

have been 4 responses. I hope more of you choose to do the survey. I think it

will be interesting to see the varied types of causes there are just within

this group.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to determine who in my family had a

" stomach disorder " but I was told that my particular disease, Pancreas

Divisum, can be present and not cause pancreatic damage or pain. Seems as if

I am one of the unlucky people who had pain and evident damage after many,

many years of tests. It was finally diagnosed during an ERCP but none

bothered to mention to me what the problem could be. I was given " Calcium

Channel Blockers " and Nitrostat to take whenever I had an attack. It took me

many more years and many more doctors to finally get a name to my affliction

and suitable treatment for this disease (for what it was worth, naturally).

I hope that answers your question. I apologize if this ended up to be too

lengthy. I've been told I talk too much (smile).

Best guess for me is that my panc. is caused by alcohol. I think I'm

the only (past) over-indulger on this list...

I never would have thought the amount I drank would cause me big

problems. My dad, who basically swims in alcohol all day, every day,

has never had the first problem. I drink a couple of glasses a wine a

day and I get sick. Go figure...
