Guest guest Posted December 7, 2000 Report Share Posted December 7, 2000 Dr. Gross in South Carolina did 20 resurfacings last year using the Cormet2000 from Corin UK. He told me that all are doing well. He also said that there will be trials for the Cormet2000 in March 2001. I also contacted Corin and they told me that about a 1000 implants of this or earlier design already done with results similar to BHR in UK. I was also told that there were little problems with insurance especially if indemnity policy. My pet peeve is that resurfacing trials seems to be synonomous with the Conserve Plus. In fact resurfacing is not on trial here. The trial is for the ConservePlus manufactured by WMT. It is only one of a soon to be increasing number of options perhaps with less hassles than the current trials. Oh remember Biomet plans to have a " resurfacing " trial this summer with a cementless design. Don't get fooled into believing that you will have to wait years if you don't get into the WMT trials for their product. Much is coming. Capillary samples tend to show as lower, because of plasma etc contained in the sample. Was it just bhb levels that were tested? Bhb levels vary as to what each child seems to need for control, but Freeman's trial found a bhb (vein serum) of 4 or above was optimum for seizure control. Our dietician doesn't like 's bhb level gong above 5, wich always equates to 16+ on the urine stix. Can you get a copy of the lab report and post exactly what they tested? Kim seems to have to have her ketones that high for control. I have read the e-mails about the blood ketones and I have a question. What is the span or range for the blood ketones. I know that for some kids they don't need the ketones as high as Kim seems to need. What I don't know is the range and what is the normal range, the whole span. Could someone post that if they know. I just got out results back from the peditrician's nurse and they seemed high but she said they are listed as normal range. From what I read from the e-mails someone said 7 is extremely high for blood ketones, ours were 8.2 and when we had them taken the urine strip was only reading slightly above moderate. I would be happy for any input because this is all new to me. Kim was on the 4.0 to 1 ratio and now she is on the 4.2 to 1 ratio. I know that I have had a gallbladder attack before and once you have it you never forget it. To be on the safe side though you really should let your surgeon know. They found that I do have gallstones and had to do two endoscopy's on me to find out all they needed to know. Found that one stone had dislodged and got blocked in the valve and had to be dislodged.
