Guest guest
I've used milk thistle for several years now (and I think more than a few members do also). My hep said it wouldn't hurt, but efficacy is not proven. has put together a list of research papers at http://www.psc-literature.org/milk.htm. With respect to the specialist, I think this group has proven that there is a bell curve of treatments - most are in the middle and there are a few outliers on both ends. She may know something we haven't heard. ERCPs are far less invasive than most surgical procedures, and fairly well understood. The best thing you have going for you is this group. Drs. are human also; just like any other profession, there are good ones and mediocre ones (and hopefully very few bad ones). Keep asking questions. I encourage you to write down your questions and concerns and bring them along on your next visit. An educated patient is more challenging to them, but YOU ARE THE CUSTOMER! It's your life they're discussing after all. Arne 53 - UC 9/77 - PSC 4/00 Alive and (mostly) well in Minnesota -----Original Message----- From: heliosman2000 > Thanks Arne. I am glad your stent was successful. Now why would a specialist from Stanford want to stent me if I had no symptoms and also, she never told me any of the other risks except that of pancreatitis. My faith in drs dwindles every time I have an issue. My son just read on the internet that Milk Thistle is used in Europe. What are your thoughts on this??
