Guest guest
Good morning group, When I was just 26 I was told I had chronic degenerative disc disease , I have or had four compressed vertebra in my lumbar spine. When I was 39 I was told the same thing and I have several central herniation in my cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spines with a myelopathy in my cervical spine that effects my left thigh and pelvis. The thoracic spine has four central disc herniation with degenerative disc disease. My Lumbar has three central disc herniation. I've had the Discography,( a funny story to be told at a later date) that showed not only the spondylolithesis but the nerve damage too. I had a SSEP witch stands for; Somato Sensory Evoked Potential test done and it showed the Myelopathy to the cervical spine. That seem to back me up when I told my Neurosurgeon and my personal care physician that I would drops things when I tried to pick them up. My arms and legs would go into spasm's when the nerves are " really " hurting. I now take Vicodin High Potency,Cyclobenzaprine and Lyrica for pain. The spasms drive me nuts, sometimes they can really be strong and debilitating. On those days I do a lot of stretching, my physiatrist gave me the exerciser's to do when the spasms don't go away too quickly. They work too! I've had a brain operation to remove a benign cyst that was " crowding " my optic nerve. The Surgeons thought I would need extensive rehabilitation(six months,at the least),but I walked out of the hospital just seven days after the operation. My question is this; With all that happening, I've got some serious pain, why is my doctor afraid to give me a better pain reliever? When I was and still am going to my physical therapist he would write out a pain reliever that had killed the pain, and yet my doctor wont write me a prescription for the same pain killer? PS, while I was laying on my stomach for the discography, the doctor inserted the needle right into my right legs nerve, up it went, right in the head of the pain doctors face. I don't recall how my leg got up that high nor do I remember if the doctor was vertically challenged But it hit him and he got made at " ME " , I told him, " I didn't touch that nerve YOU did ! He couldn't understand it. ; I thought he was unprofessional and the nurse concurred, she even said to me; " Good for you " He needed a stepping down off his high horse " Needless to say, I wont see him again, not even if my life depended on it, I will see other doctors in his office though . /New York
