We have others without a firm diagnosis. I think I told you that two neuros told me I didn't have MS and three said I did. It's bizarre!Were you on any MS drugs before? That's the major reason for a younger person to really go after a diagnosis, as far as I'm concerned. I was on Avonex for 5 years and it did really slow down my rapid cycling of MS attacks. After my major attack of Transverse Myelitis in 1997 I started having MS exacerbations every two weeks or so and the attacks would last for 3 or 4 days. My neuro was concerned about the rapid cycling and had me call him with each thing so he could document it. He was able to dx me with MS after some lesions showed up on MRI and my spinal tap was positive on some bands but not all. He wanted to

start me on Avonex immediately and I was scared to death. But it turned out to be easy. And it did stop the rapid cycling and in about a year I started feeling better. I truly think Avonex saved me from terrible disablity. Then after I'd been on it for 5 years I quit because I felt so good. Now my MS symptoms have leveled out for the most part. understand if I have 2 white lesions and 1 "black hole" lesion and clinical symptoms, low immune system, etc. that they would undiagnose me. I am really confused and frustrated. On the other hand, fibromyalgia, MS and Chronic fatigue all have similar symptoms and I have had doctors tell me I have all of them but of course at different times in my life so I have no clue as to what I have. I also have Ebstein Barr Virus that is indicitive of all too. I know it's confusing, it is for me too. I just don't know what else to do now. And, the 2 last times I had a complete blood work CBC......it showed that I was borderline malnurished ( I eat and I am not underweight) which totally confused me yet once again so there are some questions that need to be answered but I can't seem to find a doctor that will look into all my symptoms or even want to. They treat me with one thing at a time, not all combined. Oh, and it's ok if you ask me questions. I will explain as good as I can from what the doctors have told me, which is not much. pneumonia where I had to be hospitalized so it's worth getting it. The flu shot........ ..they say you don't get sick but I had it one time about 3 years ago also and I have a low immune system and guess what.....I got the flu and was sick for about 1 week. It doesn't happen to most people though so you should be good. If you have all that other stuff going on, it is a good idea to get both shots so you don't have to stay in the hospital if you get sick. yr. She highly recommeded that I get both the flu shot and the pneumonia shot. Have any of you rec'd either or both of these so far this yr? She claimed that both of them are 'dead', not live as they used to be. I've always been fearful of getting them, as I didn't want to 'get' the illness. She said all I'd get is a sore arm! lol!
