Guest guest
, you did very good with your report to the class!! ehehehhehe She sounds to be on a good start... I would have preferred that she'd tested the Frees... but she wants to get a feel first.. that's not so bad. Anxiety.. be leery if she starts pushing meds for it... it may be better to deal with the thyroid first.. but lets see, first, what your labs say.. and see how it goes from there.... Now.. you know that you're off to a good start with this... and that you've got a few hundred new best friends to be there when you need us.... I think you might be sleeping a bit better.... right??? She did hesitate to discuss anything about further treatment or specifics until she gets the numbers from the lab, and I can understand that. I asked her about adrenal stress, and again she said she wanted to see the labs before she took the next step. I think she's going to be good, she seemed to know what she was talking about when I asked questions...she was on top of the switch from .5-5 down to .3-3 for the TSH levels, so I was glad of that. My old doctor was still working with the "anything that's less than what you started with is ok" method, I think Hahahah. She's treating the anxiety as a separate issue right now. I'm still not sleeping - at all - which is new. I never used to have a problem falling asleep, just staying asleep. Now I can't even fall asleep. And what's weirder is...I'm not sleepy. My body feels tired, but I lay down and my eyes are wide open - not sleepy a bit. I hope this new and exciting symptom takes a hike ASAP. So, all in all I'm feeling cautiously positive. Guest guest
You know, I can't say it any better than the gal who wrote earlier about how relieved she was to find a place with such an abundance of information. I'm so sorry I don't remember her name and I didn't save the email - LOL - chalk another one up to brain fog. The resources you've got here are amazing. I was stunned and thrilled to find the source for ordering my own labs! I have brand new insurance which is the next thing to useless, it doesn't cover any pre-existing conditions, which of course this is. How they'll know it is pre-existing, I don't know, but I don't expect them to cover any of this. If they don't, I'll be out there ordering my own labs from now on. That alone has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. I love the fact that the resources are available if I have to take matters into my own hands. The support and encouragement I've received are also second to none The new doctor has suggested meds for the anxiety, which I'm open to, as I have had an issue on and off with anxiety since my teens. Just has been REALLY bad lately - worse than ever before. She wants me to start off with a really small dose of Lexapro and see how I feel from there. I'm not at all interested in taking anything of a tranquilizing nature...I'm foggy enough as it is...and she completely agrees. I DO have a filled prescription from my old doctor for Klonopin, which she said I can take if it gets very bad, but I filled it nearly a year ago, and have never taken a single pill, so I doubt I'm going to start now. As I said, I'm foggy enough. I'm really curious about natural thyroid meds. Since I'm only taking .025 levoxyl now, which I understand is practically nothing, would it be worth it for me to switch right off the bat to naturals? Or should I wait and see how I do on the synthetics with increased dosages before I make that decision? What's the difference in cost between the two, approximately? I know the levoxyl is quite affordable for me, which is nice since I have no prescription coverage. I feel so much better with this ball finally rolling, I can't begin to tell you! It's nice to know I'm not alone and that people understand what I'm going through. I'm hoping sleep will find me tonight...it's still puzzling to me why I don't feel a bit sleepy. Thanks bunches! Oh...doc also had me tested for Celiac Sprue since I have IBS along with the Thyroid. I know NOTHING about this, but have seen it mentioned here on the list before. Is this related to thyroid dysfunction or is it a separate issue entirely??Sorry for so many questions!L -- Re: My Visit to the Doctor , you did very good with your report to the class!! ehehehhehe She sounds to be on a good start... Guest guest
Hi, Alison Nope, she didn't test the Free T's because I asked her about it, and she said she wanted to wait and see what the TSH said before going further. Same when I brought up the adrenal stress issue. I think she's open to all of it, and would request the tests if I asked her to, but seems like she's taking baby steps. At least they are in the right direction, I figure....since my last doc was about as helpful as a headache. I have had a problem with anxiety before, even before the thyroid was an issue. I guess I failed to mention that in my first email LOL - chalk it up to that pesky brain fog. This latest bout of anxiety may or may not be related to the awful thyroid function - I have a feeling, because of its severity, that it IS related, and will pursue that with her. I just feel so much better with all the resources I've found in the last week or so, I can't begin to tell you! Thanks for everything, -- Re: My Visit to the Doctor > She's treating the anxiety as a separate issue right now.
