I have been having neck pain and extreme fatigue for 4 mos. I've

taken levothroid for 14 years. My antibodies are elevated to 600 so

the doctor thinks it's Hashimotos. I had an ultrasound which showed

a small nodule.

I used to take 100 of the medicine for years. Just last mo got

raised to 125 but still so very tired that now she's trying 150. I

got a call today that I finally have an appt. with an

endocrinologist but not until MAY! I couldn't believe it. Is this

typical to wait that long? The closest one to me is 4 hours away.

Also, should this nodule be biopsied? My doctor thought so.

Thanks!

What have your labs been showing? It may be that your dosage was too low or that you're not converting well enough and it's catching up to you. For some, antibodies build quickly and the cycles can be very close together, for others, the cycles can be years.... If you could post your last labs we'd get a better idea.

Nodules are pretty common with Hashi's but, in my opinion, if the doc is willing to do the biopsy to make sure, I'd go for it.

It might not be a bad idea to begin charting. Taking your waking temp and monitoring heart rate is a great way to keep an eye on your metabolic rate. Our metabolism is greatly affected by thyroid hormone levels, you'd be able to see if your body is shifting in how it's reacting to the meds, if you need a dosage increase or decrease.

Remember, too, that a change in diet can change how your body is reacting to your thyroid hormone dosage. Has anything changed in your eating habits or food choices in the last months?
