Do you see a pain specialist, or your family doctor? Many times a family doctor can be easier to work with because they know you better. Hi Kaylene, Nice to meet you. (its funny my mom was going to name me that but decided on Kayla) Anyway, I'm seeing my family doctor and an orthopedic doctor. They don't want to help me because I'm so young. My family doctor doesn't want to give me any pain meds except Tramadol. He is afraid I will overdose on them. I'm guessing because of my psychological history. And my psychiatrist wouldn't do anything like that for me. And the orthopedic doctor doesn't believe I'm in pain. He just told me to lay down if I'm in pain. So I'd have to be laying down 80 percent of the time and I can't even lay that long because that hurts too. Plus I have way too much to do. I just have to work through the pain and lay down and cry later. =( At my next appointment on Saturday with my primary care doctor I'm going to ask him if he won't help me can he find someone who will. Wish me luck! lol =) Thanks for the welcome. I hope you are doing well. =) -Kayla

I know many of us here have been through what you're going through, both with the physical issues and with doctors with issues of their own. I'm glad you're going to try to find someone to help you... I was going to suggest you fire the jerk who told you to " lay down if you're in pain " and find someone interested in helping you! I've had to do that a time or two myself, and it's not fun being stuck without a doctor, so you're probably on the right track with asking your primary for names of other docs you might see. Good luck! I know you'll be very happy here though--there are a bunch of awesome people here.

Since you're young and have some bad disks, spondylolisthesis, and arthritis. I would strongly suggest you seek out another orthopaedic surgeon or a neurosurgeon for a second, and if necessary, a third opinion. When I was 39, my lower back was an absolute mess, with multiple problems, including the three you listed. So much so, that my legs, bladder and bowels quit working. Several neurosurgeons wrote me off as dying. A very competent, elderly orthopaedic surgeon, not only fixed those problems, but he also got rid of about 70% of the lower back pain I was experiencing and all of the leg pain. There is talented help out there. Please go looking for it. Lyndi

I hope when you fire him you tell him what an unfeeling bas**rd he is. Don't go silently. THis guy needs a reality check.
