Guest guest
My opinion here Kathy.... It doesn't come in 1.75 grain size... Tablet sizes available are: 1/4 grain 1/2 grain 1 grain 1 1/2 grain 2 grain 3 grain 4 grain 5 grain So your options would be to ask for 2, which might be too much of a jump for you to take all at once... or ask to have the 1 1/2 grain you are getting now... with an additional 1/4 to bring you up to 1.75.... or a 1/2 that you can split, at first, to let your body adjust.. .then, when your body is ready, take all of it to get to the 2 grain that you suspect you need. I'm seeing mydoc tomorrow afternoon and intend to ask him about mybloodwork since I still haven't received a copy of itin the mail yet. I'm currently on 1.5 grains Armourand suspect I need another increase. I have to get anew prescription anyway. Should I ask for 2 grains oronly ask for a quarter of a grain increase to 1.75grains? My TSH was 2.3 something on my tests the 8weeks prior to the last test on March 28th. I justwant to know what I should consider asking for. I'mgoing because my hair is still coming out heavily andI have a nice bald spot on top of my head. Hair lossdoes not run in my family. I have less hair than my83 year old mother. Also taking Armour all at once may improve T4 to T3 conversion in some people and therefore the 'it doesn't last 24hrs ' comment may be moot. Guest guest
Okay....I dont' think I am making this up....but Armour has calcitonin in it that helps build back bone so osteoporosis is not a concern???? I would love to see this in print somewhere to take to my doc, but the group I read it on, could not remember the link. Anybody know this? Guest guest
Sounds like a plan.. give your body time to adjust.... if it's too much all at once, or your later day fatigue becomes more pronounced you can still split the dose. If I haveproblems still being so much more tired at night, I'llprobably start splitting my dose. Since I dosesublingually, eating isn't really a consideration forme.Oh, I also have an appointment with a dermatologistabout my hair loss, but they can't get me in untilJune some time. I'll have to check the paper theywrote it on for me. I'll be interested to see what hesays about it. The nurse mentioned faxing over copiesof my labs for him. The FT4 could go up to 1.6 to 1.8 with no problem. The FT3 could go up a little. 375 to 380, may be a little more. Are you a ThyCa survivor? The new range is .2 to (I think ) 2.0, or 3.0 I know it is a lot lower than it was. I will try to find the documentation on it so you can " educate " the doc. ************************************* > He didn't want to up my dose and wanted to argue with > me when I said that the TSH didn't concern me, that I > wanted to see the frees more. I'm just having a hard time getting the doc to understand that I'm asking for the increase because I'm feeling better and want to be even more better. ) I don't think I'd mind if my free T3 was a bit over range personally. I'm just glad the hair loss has continued to slow drastically since I increased to 2 grains. I expect this will probably be my optimal dose, but only time will tell. I personally don't think I'm hypo due to Hashimoto's, but can't convince the doc to run the antibodies test, so I'll have to run them myself when I can save up the $$. My honey would give me the $$, but he makes less than I do and I'd rather he save it up so he can get out of the hell he's living in. I believe I'm hypo due to being born very prematurely. I've been a big gal all my life except when I was born and my mother is also hypothyroid. My hairdresser said that hairloss often happens anywhere within the first 6 or 7 months after major surgery, but he also knows I'm hypo and suggested I see the doc about my meds as well, which I did and got the dosage increased. The hair loss has slowed quite drastically since starting the new dose Wednesday morning. ) I'm still losing more hair than is usually normal for me, but it's not nearly the amount it was before. I'm making sure I watch it very closely so I can report it to the dermatologist when I see him.
