Hi-

I consider myself to be fortunate to be a mostly stay-at-home mom with

insurance. The idea of working 40+ hours a week away from home or

navigating the world without insurance are impossibly daunting from my

vantage point. Yet I know so many manage beautifully with grace. I have

always worked " part time " . My father and my husband are both self

employed - each in their own business. Each has had to re-start their

business from the ground up at least three times since the day that

was born. The title I give myself is the " Office Wife " . I do all the

things for each office that I do for our home. I oversee it, I manage and

soothe the personalities. I make sure the boss isn't making his employees

crazy (yes, we also have employees). I pay the bills (when there's money -

lol!), I forecast, I book-keep, I account, I re-organize the back room, I

dust the desks, I take responsibility for all the abandoned and orphaned

things that employees leave away from their desks, I maintain the computer

systems, I de-bug, de-virus, de-Trojan, edit the registry, delete spyware

and keep the internet connection working - as for my husband's company it is

our lifeline - everything is time critical to the half-hour..... yup, Office

Wife about says it all :o)

And the answer is, I didn't manage it all. I worked more than full time up

to the day of 's birth. For the first year, I tried to keep my work

up - though I spent every minute with . When was an infant, I

brought my work into the middle of his floor and did what I could as I

suctioned, tube fed by gravity and whatever else was truly urgent. I was

far too busy with the balance of his health to realize how much I was

letting slip and fall with my work. Fortunately we hired a replacement for

me, and I was left with non-time-critical but important tasks that in our

family businesses we weren't able to hire someone else to really do - or

someone to do as well as me :o)

I always wondered what happens when the plate gets too full. Well,

apparently, withmine, things fall off. And as the plate is already too

full - I don't really notice at the time :o)

Does that help at all?

Best to you and your family-

yuka

sorry :o)

I realize my previous post was " all about me " and didn't answer you at all!

:o)

It's impossible to imagine - but you will be able to manage it - because I

did :o) grew and became more stable and then thrived and then

flourished. It did take a few years - and having two more children in the

interim didn't speed me up any (lol!)

I started with a single monthly eight hour shift where I called in the

re-enforcements while I hacked at everything urgent and late .. and

gradually when my youngest was in kindergarten (seven years ago!!!) I had a

few hours to myself on a daily basis - which was simply incredible! - and

then he went to elementary, and I physically in the office from 8:30-2:00

everyday..... no longer working by phone, fax, modem and mail.......

And if you can stay home now - there couldn't be anything more important for

you to be doing :o)

.... remember how long being pregnant seemed to be at the time? :o)

smiles-
