If you are some kind of health care practitioner who doesn't have a presccription pad and doesn't have much integrity either, you define it as anything you can legally sell, while anything you can't legally sell is " artificial, evil, poison, etc. " There is also a tendency to talk about whatever brand the unethical practitioner sells as " 100% natural " while brands other practitioners sell are " artificial, synthetic, don't work as well as the natural stuff, and are bad for you. " A chemist might define it as compounds found in nature are natural, while those which do not exist in nature are not natural. In this sense, morpine, penicillin, botulism and strychnine are natural, while many things (e. g. DMSA) that qualify as dietary supplements under federal law are actually not natural. Andy . . .
