Guest guest
I am not an expert at all, but I see what you are saying. If he were my child I would probably back off gently to see if it had negative or positive effects. So I might go to 2 shots a week for a month, and then one shot a week for several months, etc... Maybe when you get down to one shot per week, you can make it on his most active day or a weekend day, so you don't have problems with school. Perhaps you can try m-b12 sublinguals if that would be more convenient or less money, or just easier on him and you. But as says he will likely need some kind of supplementing his whole life. My 7 year old has received B12 shots every 3 days for the last 2.5 years. Guest guest
Have you ever taken a lab test to check the amount of MB12 in his blood stream? We did. His levels after giving him many MB12 shots were off the charts. Too much MB12 can be toxic and is dangerous. You may want to do some bloodwork. I'm a big believer in labs -- especially with autistics who can't say how they feel. My 7 year old has received B12 shots every 3 days for the last 2.5 years. Guest guest
We are only doing sub-lingual mB12, but my son (3.5, 35ish lbs) has been crazy this week. Much more mouthing, biting and throwing furniture and tackling kids at school, escaping the room/building. I've decided to only do the sublinguals on him once a week, and going to start again NEXT Friday after school. I need him to get what's in his system to work its way out... My 5 yr old daughter is also taking them but I didn't change her diet this week, and her reaction has been pleasant (no extreme aggression, being more social, she even joined in music time today) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5v1pijQw8IMy son hasn't been dx'd with anything, he is just doing some weird/socially unacceptable behavior and since I am giving his sister the m-b12, I was giving it to him too... he probably needs it, but I would say he has ventured into " not tolerable " side effects zone... I guess it would be up to you to decide if your son is having tolerable or not tolerable side effects, and talk to the doc?PS There are experts here and I am not one! my DAN gave my son mb12 shots without folic acid, so far I just gave him one and he is doing really bad, aggressive, foggy... any advice? -- Toni------Mind like a steel trap...Rusty and illegal in 37 states. Guest guest
yes, our folinic acid is not in our MB12 shot, either -- due to the possibility of burning, etc., we dose seperate. it has worked out well for us.Sent from my iPhone rogar you are so funny, yes not everyone is low in it. it depends on YOUR issues. hehe. my son does B12 spray with NO folic acid, we dose seperate so we can do it up and down as needed. we don't do multis for our son so we have more freedom to do that. folic is calming so some kids need more. other kids say folic acid IN the shot is painful or they need certain forms of it, like folic acid makes them crazy but they do well on folonic acid, others need it even more broken down like my son with the MTHFR mutation. he needs folapro which is more broken down then the folonic acid. I believe the form I have seen in the shots is just the regular folic acid B12 Shots - how long is long enough? My 7 year old has received B12 shots every 3 days for the last 2.5 years. Guest guest
B12/MB12 is water soluable and the body gets rid of the excesses it doesn't need (i.e. it doesn't accumulate) usually within 12 hours of the last dose. Like, Cheryl, the research I've done over the past 5 years on this has not pointed to potential " toxicity " . We gave MB12 for over two years and it was helping but he developed some extra tics behavior that we were able to trace to the MB12 dosing...we finally stopped the MB12 and those particular tics went away. He also was and is not able to tolerate neither folic nor folinic acid - both make him spacey, even at low doses. ____________________________________________________________ FREE 3D MARINE AQUARIUM SCREENSAVER - Watch dolphins, sharks & orcas on your desktop!
