I too have arthritis, non inflammatory,

knuckles, elbow and now seems to be starting in my shoulder. They are struggling

to decide whether joint stiffness and aches are from psc or arthritis. Has

anybody found any medication that works because Non steroidals are

currently just taking the edge off for me… would be very grateful for any

advice thanks Kate

Thanks a lot, I am very grateful for your

advice and glad it settled. That gives me hope as it really does drive you mad.

I've had aralgias from UC for about 30 years. Celebrex or Aleive seem to help very well, however both are controversial in use with any bleeding disorder like UC. I end up using a lot of Tylenol in generic.

I found pred to be a great friend with this problem. I took it for the same

thing that runs with UC. One word of warning, When I got rid of the colon

and no longer needed to be pred. dependent, the stiffness presented itself

with such a vengence that I could have put the tin man to shame. (joints

nearly locked up with pain). My suggestion is tapper of pred much much

slower than the average doctor recommends. I found for me, that dropping by

1/2 mg. per week was as fast as I needed to go less I just ache for a flare

+ fatigue, etc.

Best luck to you

PS Don't forget to ask about the need to take calcium +D and use free

weights to offset bone loss driven by pred. I found you can actually

increase bone density if you are agressive with this while on pred.
