Thanks Shirley. Knew you'd post this sooner or later and I couldn't

remember the name!

I can see your point . However, if I apply standard suntan lotion

to Steffi at 8am, what good will it be at 4pm?

If they can't put the lotion on, I'd rather they didn't let them outside

or they should provide a shaded area where children are not going to get

burnt.

IMHO this is just as important as teaching them to wipe their bottoms

and wash their hands properly after they've been to the toilet - and no-

one says that the staff can't find the time to do that!

It's all part of sun safety. And other countries (OZ/NZ for example)

manage extremely well. Perhaps it's like us and snow - half an inch and

the country grinds to a halt!

FWIW, Steffi and her friends are in and out of nursery all day when the

weather's good. They are lucky that there are lots of trees in the

nursery grounds and the staff usually sit under them and read stories,

play games etc.

Sue (not feeling too ruffled since Steffi has olive-toned skin and is quite

capable of making a pretty good job of putting her suntan lotion on herself!)

But we're also talking about full-day nurseries where parents are at work -

I was 35min drive from where Emma was so if she was still there I couldn't

drive there and back every lunch time just to apply sun screen!

I've used this too....it's great like Shirley said. so much easier than

suncream and rubs in really easily too.

My nephew now has burns dressings on his shoulders!

The school rang today to say that Marcus (6) had blisters on his back from his

shirt rubbing and could they come to get him and get him seen to.

My sister is in extreme agony from her sunburn too.

They were using last years sun cream! So all of you beware!

We were outside on Sunday from 11.30 - 3.00 (just the wrong time) listening

to an open air concert. I plastered the children every 1/2 hour with factor

35 and they are both fine. Was really sensible myself too (amazingly).

However, I agree with Barbara that sun resistant suits are the way to go -

Sue W did you say you were going to look into getting some at reduced

prices? I'd be interested.

It is sooo easily done. Put on the cream, go out in the garden and then you

just enjoy yourself. Completely lose track of the time and the fact that the

cream should be reapplied, etc. That's why I like the P20, which you apply in

the morning and then basically forget about it.

Alison

To be honest it was Sunday and knowing my sister and her husband, they were

out all day in the garden and probably didn't reapply the cream again or as

usual left it up to my 10 year old niece.

She wasn't going to tell me because I'd shout at her and give her no sympathy

(both of which I did) but the cream they had was factor 30 from last year.
