Guest guest
Dear , Kathy, and Louis, I haven't given up yet on the Sunday evening chats. I think I can get access to an IBM-type until such time as eGroups provides for Macs. I want to check one thing - , do you not have daylight savings time in Canada? Indiana, as far as I know, is the only state which stays on EST all year. We never change our clocks, which has occasionally made for some frustrating situations when we forget who is on which time. So the chat is at 10 PM EST (which would be 11 PM on the east coast)? I have a couple of friends with IBM -type computers and has one in the library (which closes at 10 PM in the summer). has spent a total of 10 days in the last two weeks out of the bathroom. The first day he came out two weeks ago he and a friend went to a movie - his first in over a year and a half. Two days later the friend took him to our local mall (which says might have been overdoing it a bit). He has been in and out of the den, watching TV, and talking into my computer (which then types the philosophy paper he is writing). So I would say that things are looking up - although having him in the same areas as us is difficult as he is still afraid of contaminating us and becomes very controlling, supposedly in an attempt to keep us from becoming contaminated. Thanks to all of you for your interest - and I'm looking forward to next week's chat. Jackie
Guest guest
Hi Jackie, I'm in Indiana too, the chat is at 9 p.m. I wrote 10 p.m. in an earlier post by mistake. See you next Sunday! Kathy R. in no-daylight-savings-time Indiana
Guest guest
HI Jackie: What wonderful news about going out etc. What progress! He must be very proud and you too. Another major leap towards success helped along by the wonderful Drs. C. and J. and his determined parents. Does respond to the use of humor in coping with his contamination anxiety? Hope to see you on the chat next Sunday. Take care, aloha, Kathy (H) kathyh@... P.S. We are on the same time all year round in Hawaii too (HST not EST though :-))) At 08:53 PM 05/30/2000 -0400, you wrote: >Dear , Kathy, and Louis, > I haven't given up yet on the Sunday evening chats. Guest guest
Jackie: I guess we should have all said daylight savings time. The chat will be at 10 DST on the east coast. Indiana isn't the only state that doesn't change its clocks. Hawaii also doesn't bother, though in their case it's because every day is a beautiful day. Isn't that right Kathy H? Ten pm on the east coast is six hours ahead of me in summer and five hours ahead in winter. That means I am always wide awake at chat time :-)) Take care, aloha, Kathy (H) kathyh@... Guest guest
Hi everyone, Carolyn, can you explain the eye lesion. I just had one removedfrom under my left eye, very near the eyelid. The dx is Basal cell carcinoma. My fam MD had already burned it off, but it came back. This time a plastic Surgon removed it. I have stitches which will be removed Tues. I also have an ulcer, but don't know outcome of that yet. God Bless, Patsy

Guest guest
> Hi everyone, > Carolyn, can you explain the eye lesion. Hi, Patsy. My lesion was actually in the back of the eye, and it was kind of like a hole that just spontaneously appeared and fluid was leaking out of it into the rest of the eye and affecting my vision. I don't understand all the anatomy there, but apparently that fluid is supposed to be in one part of the eye and not to leak into other parts, if that makes sense. The lesion had to be repaired before it got to the optic nerve or my vision would have been totally gone, and the treatment of choice was laser surgery. That surgery (3 procedures) worked to stop the leaking, but left scar tissue on the eyeball, so my vision is permanently distorted in that eye. Bummer! My other (dominant) eye takes over, fortunately. Good luck with your situation! And prayers! Regards, Carolyn
Guest guest
Moria thank You for that infromation you sent me. Dr. Schulz also mentioned that when he visits other countries He wouldn't eat or drink the food there because of the toxins and pestecides and so forth. He said that if he wouldn't eat or drink the food in other countries why would he use the herbs from there? He said you should buy herbs that are grown in America. Did I mention that Dr. Schulz visit a Manufacture and someone substituted Encinacea for something else. When he asked what are you doing? The person told him that they ran out of Encinacea and that his/her boss told them to substitute it for something else. If that's true you don't know what your getting unless you do it yourself. There is an old saying " if You want something done right do it yourself " !!!! You mentioned that you grow your own herbs. I was thinking about growing my own herbs. This spring I am going to grow Encinacea and Gingo Biloba and untill then I will purcahse them from the store. I can get fresh garlic at the store and dandeloin I can get from my yard if any grows there or I can contain the dandeloin in a big garden box outdoors ). Thanx Again Moria. I bought the ground up herb and did the grain alcohol bit, then when that was done, I harvested some of my fresh plants...I used all but the root and put that in the tincture I had made. Let that set per his instructions and then strained that. It is very potent....really deadens the tongue. ej
Guest guest
Patty, I thought it best to use the grain alcohol for roots? Anyway, I have several books on how to but had used Shulze product, it was so potent and expensive that I used his recipe and ordered the roots but like you say, I did't want to bother my roots so did what he said in the recipe and used the other parts for the second go 'round to make it more potent. My plants have a mind of their own. I made a bed especially for them and the next yr they aren't there but in the yard. My largest and most beautiful one is in the yard. I live in TX so they just don't do well here so I just let them be and threaten anyone that looks like they would to mow them down. ha ej _______________________ In a message dated 10/14/2000 12:20:31 PM Central Daylight Time, faussettdp@... writes: << Actually, I should expound upon that. But they are perennial, so it shouldn't be a problem if you keep the bed growing. My herbal book also suggests that the cone flower can be used, and that the fresh extract is more effective than the dried root. I will defer to others knowledge who have used the fresh extract. Guest guest
, Thanks to Para's like you, our kids have a fighting chance in some of these school districts. I too am a Para Educator (Instructional Assistant) with a child with Autism. It is through this child I work with, that I figured out what was wrong with my child with Down Syndrome. I kept on asking if Down Syndrome was so much like Autism??? My child was so much more Autistic then this little Autistic guy I work with. I did not take him for an evaluation until my poor son was totally out of control and his special day teacher of 2 months (in her class only 2 periods a day for academics) physically abused him for walking around her classroom turning over empty chairs by carefully setting them on their backs. The child was already having a tough time with a school change, new teachers, new aide, very little communication that could not be understood, etc. My child too was always fully included and did pretty well up to this point, having the same aide from early on, etc. This little guy that you speak of has the best chance with stability and the consistancy of one aide that he has had. Our kids don't do well with change. I sure wish someone would have suggested evaluating him or seen all the signs of Autism that were always there. I'm so glad there are people like you who care so much and go that extra mile to do what is right for our kids. Thank you Thank you Thank you.... Guest guest
Haven't I seen someplace that Rituxan is counter-indicated for CLL? ............................................................................. ................................................................... Gee, Bill, it might be a little hard on my wallet but my body seems to respond reasonably well to it. According to my TX history, it probably shouldn't, but it does and I'll stay with it until something better - and maybe cheaper - comes along. A better answer might be that while CLL may not yet be formally approved for CLL, lots of doctors prescribe it and Medicare pays for it w/o question. Guest guest
What does Medicare pay for? Your letter was not clear. Hi Carolyn, The short answer is that, so far, Medicare has paid for every therapy I've had for this disease. In fact, I can't remember ever being bounced for any health care service even when I thought some charges (from a dermatologist) were outrageously high. Oh, there were some rejections for double-billing or for inaccurate information provided with the claim but Medicare always came through. I could go on to make a political statement but being this is holiday time, I'll show some mercy and save it for next year. Wishing you the best, Fred Hummel, 79, Arcata, CA; CLL/SLL dx 1.98; Fludara 2000; Fludara, Rituxan, Novantrone, Decadron, 2002; Rituxan, 2004; Rituxan, Chlorambucil, Prednisone, 2005.
