> Thank you for sharing your story about moving with all of your pets. It is

helpful because we may be having to move in about 2-3 months for me to get a

full-time job that has great benefits. You have given me hope at how well my

dogs are likely to do with the move.

All,

We always stayed at a Hampton Inn in Joplin when we moved from Texas

to Belleville Illinois two different times and many times visiting home.

They allow pets and at one time, we had two hamsters, a dog, cat, and fish in

our room. It was a laugh traveling with them and Thank

Goodness I bought a conversion van during those years with a VCR, and gas was

cheaper.

I was able to put a tape in and my son watched cartoons but he was obsessed with

the old time Superman cartoons. I never got so tired of " Is it a plane, is it a

star (I think this was the phrase), No, It's Superman " dun ta dun dun ta dun

(repeat at least twenty times). I finally bought headsets for him and I

listened to talk radio.

We also listened to books on tape and traded them in at every Cracker Barrel

(they allowed this). It saved me. I do not miss those days, but forget not

everyone is use to picking up and moving every three years.

It creates some interesting memories. We were caught up in a tornado microburst

one time outside Joplin and it moved my van over to the

other lane. I had my gas pedal to the floor and did not feel like I was moving.

My son and dog were on the floor.

We made a habit of stopping at every historical marker and reading them and I

stopped at every outlet mall to go to the bathroom (through the shops, of

course). My husband and son got where I had to be timed and back out within

thirty minutes. It is amazing what you can find in thirty minutes.

I also decided to stop at estate sales or yard sales and found some fabulous

antique jewelry throughout the United States. I have made some interesting

friends this way. You have to find a way to make it less stressful and it is

always great to finally " get there " .

Animals are great about rebounding and seem always to be happy if they are with

their loved ones.

Bennie,

Thank you for the words of encouragement. This move will be big to my husband &

me. Not only will the distance be a factor but we will be leaving our parents,

adult children, our granddaughter, and numerouse other frieds & family.

It will be a a big change but I'm looking forward to it.

Hi Lori -

This was a huge move for us too - to a place where we know no one and we're

taking a big chance on this new job of mine. But it's an adventure, and we have

to take a chance every now and then.

We had really hoped to get back closer to family with this move (they're in

Texas and we haven't been for the last 15 years), but it just wasn't to be. In

this economy, I was just thrilled to have any job at all after my one in Arizona

blew up.

You'll do fine. It's exciting and nerve-wracking and exhausting, but change can

be good.

Keep us updated!

Hello Cheryl,

Your move was much further away than what we are looking at making. That is why

your details about how the entire move from Arizona to Illinois was inspiring to

me. You have given me so much encouragement with what you said.

Where we are looking at to move, my husband has an uncle and cousins that live

there. My husband isn't real close with them but that may be why were meant to

live there.

I am also glad to be able to find a job that is going to be paying me really

well. I know that I will be working very hard but it will be worth everything

I've done to get here.

I am getting a bit excited about the move because it is going to be so good for

both of us.

Thank you so much for the words of encouragement.
