Guest guest
Just wondering if anyone has been prescribed Flagyl (low dose) long term? My son does amazing on Flagyl but our DAN has him on it for one month (five days on two days off) every time it is prescribed and two weeks after the script is finished all his symptoms return. Has anyone tried Flagyl long term with good and/or bad results. Would love to hear any thoughts. TIA, Dayna
Guest guest
Our son was on and off Flagyl for a couple of months. We just recently saw Dr. Buie (GI specialist near Boston) and he suggested if we need to be on it longer than a month we should switch to vacomycin. He said a side effect of long term (longer than a month) use of flagyl could cause pain or numbness in extremities. Our DAN had never heard of this, but we did just recently switch to vacomycin. We are starting to do a stool test to see how we're doing. My son had markers for clostridia, so that is why we're using it. Hope that helps a bit. -To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Mon, February 22, 2010 5:40:02 PMSubject: Anyone using Flagyl long term? Just wondering if anyone has been prescribed Flagyl (low dose) long term? Guest guest
You might also consider Erythromycin. My son was on it for a year. And for gut kids, it mimics motilin.
