I am 42 and desperate to find something that will make me feel my age.....like a supplement or something. Most mornings I feel like 60. Anyone have any suggestions? I do have the Epstein Barr Virus that gets high every now and then and boy do I know when it's high. p.s. I had no problem (emotionally) turning 30 but turning 40 was a wee bit harder. Not sure how I will feel when 50, 60, 70, 80 (if I make it that long) comes around LOL. Hi D.,

I am 48 and I find things like: yoga,

meditation and the other that starts

with a 'p' that we are not supposed

to mention, all help me. As far as

supplements, fish oil, vitamins D and

E are essential, and I've added in some

new ones:ginko, tumeric,olive leaf and

joint support. And...of course you'll

'make it' that far silly~! Love to you!

My first psych class an adjunct proof walked in - all 6'8" of him - think Darth Vader in slacks and a long sleeve dress shirt. He said in one lecture that Middle age was 20 years older than he was at that point in life.

From talking to my faculty advisor I knew he was at least 55.

So we are at least pre middle age (spring chicken at 59) on a good day. Too cold for that today

Agreed, Donna. I'm 46 and often feel like 86. And, yet, sometimes listening to the right song (like something from the 70s & 80s) I feel young again if only in my mind!

Try the 50's and the 60's - Revere and The Raiders - "Indian Nation" and anything of the Beatles.

Denver has one CD - it calls me - I have to dig it out - I am going to take it too the mts tomorrow - I have played it to MO and back many times

Re: Re: how old we are

I too enjoy the Beatles and quite agree with

you Dana~ they are timeless! My other 'favs'

are: (always dreamed of singing

backup for him!), Joni , Crosby, Stills,

Nash and Young, Jim Croce, Cat s and

cute little Denver--who I saw in concert

once or twice ( I forget!). I am bummed, as my

daughter lost my 30g video ipod, which had all

my favorite tunes, as well as the complete Bible

which I paid $31 to download! I had 'bought' it

with those bank 'bonus points'...

I listen to the Beatles a lot. But, for some reason it doesn't take me back like some other music. Maybe that's because the Beatles are timeless. :-)) Also, I really started listening to the Beatles in the 70s a few years after their breakup.

Until last November I kept my hair red - my excuse was my grandson has 3 grandmother and at least 2 great grandmother - I was easier to pick out that way - then I decided to please me . Now except for a thin layer of red it is silver white hair. I still get looks when I ask for my senior citizen discount

It's amazing as the years go by how the perceived "old age" gets further and further away. I remember as a teenager thinking 25 was really mature. LOL I'm 56 now and that is certainly not OLD. Sometimes I don't remember that I'm 56. In my mind I feel younger. But my body is stiff so as soon as I get up and walk it's a very rude reminder that my body is older than it should be. Well, I actually " get it " that I am as old as I am, in part because of the

historic, social, environmental, and even political events that I can

recall. What I have trouble " getting " is that my own children now

refer to themselves as MIDDLE-AGED! Hunh?

I became aware of being somewhat " old " when I became disabled in

1990-1991 after being physically attacked (and not by a patient) at

work! I had Reflex Sympathetic Dystropy, and essentially incureable

condition, but one which can be treated to a considerable degree.

As time wore on, I realized that I really WAS on SSDI, on Medicare,

and that I was NOT going to be able to return to work. I was just on

the point of having the first real " pity party " of my life, when I was

told that I needed all four major weight-bearing joints replaced!

(ME???) So, I went throught that, the last joint surgery having been

in 1999. Then that 70th birthday hit. That was when I realized that

I was enjoying old age, a privilege denied to many, and that that was

a GOOD thing, but I am still a bit stunned.

I have had MS as a diagnosis since age 19 in 1956, so I had gotten

rather used to the slow and, for me, gradual decline in function, at

least physically.

What kills me is losing my TEETH! No THAT is OLD, no matter

what your years!

I have been very fortunate, so now I over-exert what is left of my mind,

beneath all those plaques, or perhaps around them!

Love to you, Sharon, and to all in our group!

Hang on to the rails, New Ones, we are wild here!

So, True. My parents' favourite personal song, just for them, was an oldy

called " This is My Lucky Day, " which they sang together at each wedding

anniversary, with Mother playing the piano. Hans and I had a favourite:

" Love Me, Love Me Tender, " I know, corny, but music is my path to so

many memories, feelings, sensations. My mother was a concert pianist,

and I am a total music FIEND, and do play many instruments, well not

so many since having RSD, but still can play a few. I LOVE music!

So does my friend, Edna, who also has MS. We sing merrily while

" jaunting " around California in Marco Polo! Her husband and mine

each had terrific voices; we used to sing together, the four of us.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Bliss!

Love to you, Sharon,

and to all in our group,

Hehe... And she stood on her seat and yelled "I love you, Ringo!!" (it was Ringo, wasn't it?) and she was in the newspaper for it. LOL

And before the concert began, they chatted with the folks sitting in front of them. Liberace and his niece. They were jealous of the niece, because she was going backstage after the concert.

Then outside, they ran alongside the limo, looking in and seeing (it was , wasn't it?), and he was smiling and laughing at them.

She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah...

LMHO!

I remember when you taught me the "old" dances. When it came to The Jerk and you said you couldn't do that one anymore because it hurt. I understand that now. LOL

Re: Re: how old we are

I listen to the Beatles a lot. But, for some reason it doesn't take me back like some other music. Maybe that's because the Beatles are timeless. :-)) Also, I really started listening to the Beatles in the 70s a few years after their breakup.

The reinactors came Mothers Day 2000 - a friend drove over 150 miles to take me to dinner and the show. It was rocking in the old music hall. It was a roller rink in the 60's. Renovated in the last 20 years. Faculty from the university were there. People were dancing on the tables - the waitress were singing back up. The walls were vibrating - it was a memorable night.

I finally told my mom about my sexy mini van experience. LOL. SHE was the original sexy mama " back in the day " . She would drive around in a tube top in her black Firebird, listening to CCR or the Eagles. I was incredibly embarrassed to be seen in that new " cool " Firebird. All my classmates thought it was cool, but not me. LOL. It wasn't cool having a " cool " mom.

Now she says things like, " you go girl! " , and I cringe. LOL.
