I am so proud of you. Since young childhood " bleacher fear " has always been

a part of my life. Since I was only self diagnosed last year I had never

related this fear to CMT.

Your post has made me vow never to miss another fun filled event again.

Boy I think that would be great! Meeting others (all of you!) with CMT would

be fun, informative, and spiritually lifting. How can we organize our own

conference/get together/whatever you want to call it? I'd be the first to

sign up and travel there!

How about at Kat's place in Washington? I've never been out west.

Lamar here,

I would love to have a get-together, but would suggest a centralized location,

rather than one as far in one direction as you can go. This could either be the

central area of the US, or centralized as to the list members. An alternate

suggestion would be at one of the CMTA conferences. I am near the east coast

and CA is a long distance just as GA would be for people in the northwest. I

say split the difference.

Vegas is a few bucks cheaper than SanFrancisco or LA but very little difference.

Rooms in either place would probably be very high. I personally would prefer a

quiet secluded place to visit and relax to a place with hundreds shoving and

pushing. Another possibility is that this time of year you can get a Bahamas

cruise for about 250 a person double occupancy.

$109 per night. I think it was the Mirage.

That's what I mean, the rooms are high. That's the price of a room here.

convention center, for around 40 a night and the highest are around 65. When I

went to the CMTA conference in Ft Lauderdale FL there were CMT'ers sleeping in

their vans because they could not pay the 130 a night rooms. I stayed in a

Day's Inn about a mile away for under 50.00 and let several shower in my room

that were sleeping in cars. It was a great conference, but in a resort area at

the peak season. That was my main complaint. It could have been held elsewhere

for less than half the cost. It might not matter for the CMTA officials that

are going on an expense account, but does for many that are living on a limited

income due to CMT. Remember that people without a partner usually pay as much

or nearly as much for a room as a couple or family.

Personally, if I go to a CMT conference I go to learn and not party. If I went

to a meeting of CMT'ers I would want to meet and talk with them--not go to

shows, gamble, or see the sites. I may be unique in this, but going to a place

with shoulder to shoulder crowds, constantly bumping me, or to a beach to sit a

hundred yards away and watch others walk on it is not my idea of fun. Most

CMT'ers I have know would have a problem with crowds or beaches, etc. (even if

they could afford it).

This is just MY opinion, and any of you can plan what you want. A central

location either geographically or demographically would be fair to all and could

well be less expensive to most.

strongly consider driving my family (we have a camper so we could camp and

make a vacation of it) if it were centrally located.

more trips up and down the bleachers to go to the bathroom! I'll do

A more central location would be great for a get together.Then I might

beable to attend.I live in western PA and can't afford to much for travel or

hotel expense.

Great suggestions. Many state and national parks have cabins for very

reasonable rates for those unable to use a tent or camper.
