Bonnie,

So glad all went well. 's ear surgery last summer was kind of the same

for . It brought back good and bad memories.

now works is a hospital. I ask her if she okay. She loves it. She

used to play nurse as a toddler. She is going to become a phlobotomist ( Sp?)

and is thinking about nursing school

Hospitals don't scare all of their patients away.

Tell Patty to " milk " this for what she can get. She's earned it.

Blessings, Huggs and Prayers for healing.

Patty's toe

Patty finally had her other toe nail fixed. The Novocain didn't work the

last time so she had to go to the hospital for " surgery. " My goodness I

haven't

seen her that anxious in such a long time. We were in a new hospital because

of the move so it was all unknown to her. All this was for ingrown toe nails

but she said it brought back all her other surgeries right to her mind. She

was really anxious.

When we got there we were told that no one at this hospital ever heard of

CHARGE. They said they looked it up on the Internet. Ha! Little do they know

there are tons of younger ones coming along! I had brought our pamphlet and

binder with me. As we talked to the anesthesiologist all of a sudden there

were

many people there. For toe surgery there were tons of people. Yep, she is

the

guinea pig again. An interesting one though!

Patty was so nervous she was shaking. They gave her valium and still she was

nervous. With all the anesthesiologists and personnel there they started the

iv right there and before she got to the room she was asleep. There she was

this 20 year old looking to me to be 6 all over again. She is still my

petunia.

The whole thing took about 10 minutes. When she woke she saw her father and

I and said " I love you " to each of us with those caring eyes. My oh my. I

told her about it later and she didn't remember. But hey, she said it with

truth and emotion. She can't undo that one!

So now she is sleeping on the couch with her toe all bandaged. I think I'll

let her milk this one for a day or two.

Finally her toes are now done. That broke the staff at this hospital in.

And they loved her sense of humor. By the time we left they were all kidding

around with her.

Got to go. I am getting old and tired so I'm turning in early.

What a great story. It's such a gift that every time I leave a doctor's

office or hospital, I leave bursting with pride at what a " petunia " I

have. I can just picture Patty through the whole ordeal. And though it

was a difficult situation for her, I can imagine her humor and

personality shining through the anxiety. Our kids have a way of turning

a difficult experience into a warm memory.

Aubrie was fun when she had to give blood recently. It was her first

time to do it while awake. And she'd just seen DJ and I give blood

before her hip surgery. I was very anxious because I don't like needles

myself. So Aubrie was very worried. But she rose to the occasion and

did great. She told the nurse that she would " kick her butt " in that

adorable little voice of hers. I'm sure she left an impression with her

personality.

It's fun to think that she will continue to leave an impression even

when she gets to be Patty's age. And it's fun to know that she'll

always be my little princess... just as Patty is your petunia.

And, of course, I'm glad to know her toe is better! Let's hope that's a

problem she can avoid in the future.
