seasonal depression

I know there are people out there who suffer from seasonal depression, but for the life of me, I can't remember who. To those of you sufferers: what kind of lights do you by to put in your homes? I don't become depressed, in the true sense of the word, but I always feel better when there is lots of sunlight. So, I thought it won't hurt to get some lighting that replicates the sun (as much as possible) and put them in the house for the winter months.

I had my tx team appt. on the 28th and he is requesting another ERCP already. I had one done in March, but have had cholangitis 5 times since then. Tx isn't as far off as it once was, but we're milking it for all we can. The point is...it's grey November, and when you combine that with being ill and I'll be recovering from an ERCP, as well as the fact that it's the first holiday season without my mom...well, I just thought maybe an ounce of prevention would truly be better than a pound of cure!

I appreciate any direction I can get--what type of lighting and the best place to purchase them.

Thanks,

Thank you, Arne, for the website address. It was very informative and I did find some links to lighting. My brother is in the lighting business, in Florida, and he's sending me some top quality light bulbs to see if they help. If not, I may order one of the light boxes they spoke of on the website. Either way, I am looking forward to a brighter winter!

Thanks again,

http://www.nosad.org/ is a pretty good starting point, with further links to light therapy sites.

Hi ,

I have this problem and have bought a special lightbox that has the required lights in it. You need to have very bright lights and sit by the box for at least half an hour a day. It will make a big difference after a week or so. If you search the internet for 'SAD' or 'lightbox' you will come up with a number of companies that sell these boxes.

Hope that helps and that you are reasonably well at the moment.

Love Barbara (UK)
