Guest guest
Our practice is located in Chicago, Illinois. We are an outpatient PT/OT clinic. Our Medicare carrier is WPS. We use CPT code 97760 often. Our OT creates/manufactures many splints, and uses this code to represent the time it takes her to create the splint, and also to instruct the patient on how to use it. I just spoke to Medicare, and they told me that they had just finished an internal review regarding 97760. Their final determination was that 97760 was just too similar to 97110. Is this true? Is it worth appealing? Do we have any recourse? Is anyone else having this problem. Since Medicare thinks 97760 is too similar to 97110, should we just add a 97110 to represent the time creating the splint and teaching the patient how to use it? Thanks, Fran Northwest Physical Therapy
