Guest guest
You know, I don't know of anyone being on it long term. I know that it is just as effective as diflucan and nizoral in terms of ability but I don't know if it's okay for long term use. I do know that it has interaction with some HIV drugs so I would double check for any interactions with antivirals before using. Assuming it doesn't interact with antivirals, I think it would be just fine but again, I would 1. ask about long term use - make sure it's safe long term and 2. make sure there are no interactions with the antiviral. I'm not a doctor so I can't really give you a solid answer other than I *think* it's fine. Cheryl~http://www.gryffins-tail.blogspot.com~@midian42~ My son has been on Nizoral over a year and we are now switching to Sporonox, he used Amp B several years ago with success. Is this one a decent antifungal? thanks
Guest guest
It works very well in our experience but it is EXTREMELY harsh/toxic on the liver. On our second time trying it in 7 months after a flare, I stopped half way through as he got dark purple circles under his eyes. I would be very careful with these meds. > > > My son has been on Nizoral over a year and we are now switching to Sporonox, he used Amp B several years ago with success. Guest guest
Toxicity may be why I don't hear of many people on it long term. I must reiterate that if you are using systemic antifungals you really need to make sure you are pulling liver function every 4-6 weeks. Guest guest
Guess you haven't used it then? We do do monthly liver functions on all these antifungals. Is there another more safe one? We've done Ampho B, Nizoral. My son tried diflucan but didn't do well, became lethargic, but haven't tried it again for fear of that again. thanks > > > > > > > My son has been on Nizoral over a year and we are now switching to Sporonox, he used Amp B several years ago with success. Guest guest
No, I haven't. Becoming lethargic on Nizoral may have been die off. I don't know how long you used it so I can't say for sure. Cheryl~http://www.gryffins-tail.blogspot.com~@midian42~ Guess you haven't used it then? Guest guest
We did two rounds of sporonox 10 days a couple years back with no big wows. For us it was not as good as Ketoconazole and as I recall our insurance company was always turning down payment for sporonox because it was rather expensive which then just lead to big hassle of calling the doctor and having her call the insurance company which for a drug that didn't wow was just not worth it. > > My son has been on Nizoral over a year and we are now switching to Sporonox, he used Amp B several years ago with success. Guest guest
Cheryl, my son actually got lethargic on the diflucan, he did well with amp b and nizoral? Are there any others, I'm a bit afraid of the sporonox now? > > > > My son has been on Nizoral over a year and we are now switching to Sporonox, he used Amp B several years ago with success.
